Next year's schedule

Non-Conference:
Troy
Old Dominion
South Alabama
Eastern Kentucky

Conference Home:
Clemson
Louisville
Cuse
UNC-Cheat

Conference Away:
FSU
BC
WF
VT

Best case scenario 10-2 (6-2) 2nd in Atlantic

Worst case scenario 7-5 (3-5) 5th in Atlantic

My overly optimistic prediction is 9-3. What you got?

somewhere around 7-5, 8-4. honestly i think that would be fine. losses on the OL worry me a little bit and i just don't think we're solid enough for 9/10 wins unless some of the new guys surprise us.

^Lot of people keep saying this, but I highly doubt it. USA was already scheduled to play UAB so they are already searching for another game.

Ladd-Peebles Stadium is actually decent (Hosts the Senior Bowl) and Mobile is pretty cool. Plus USA is respectable.

Don't see why everyone wants out of this one.

6-6 or 7-5. Away schedule is just too tough (especially with how we lose at WF), and the home schedule only gives us a break with the crappy non-conference schedule and cuse.

If we're going to make a run for the ACC title then this is the year to do it. We won’t have the talent of FSU or Clemson BUT FSU will be losing Jameis Winston and their top receiver of all time which are two huge blows offensively. We will have Jacoby at quarterback plus a strong young backup who from what I've heard is a baller. With another year in the system, maturation from young players, and some luck then we could actually have a helluva year. But this is State so I’m cautiously optimistic.

FSU will be losing their best two players, but that's why they have back ups and recruits. They have had amazing recruiting classes for what seems like forever, and I don't see how we can even make it interesting. Plus it's an away game.

Non-Conference:
Troy - W
Old Dominion - W
South Alabama - W
Eastern Kentucky - W

Conference Home:
Clemson - L
Louisville - W
Cuse - W
UNC-Cheat - W

Conference Away:
FSU - L
BC - L
WF - L
VT - W

I predict 8-4 because we always lose to Wake in WS and for some reason can never seem to beat BC. I'd say we land anywhere between 7-5 and 10-2 depending on how many WTF wins we can manage and WTF losses we can avoid.

I do get it (Clint Trickett), but that is a serious thing that could affect Brissett. If Jacoby doesn't learn to have better presence in the pocket, he'll turn into RG3.

I doubt they have another Heisman QB and all time receiver waiting in line for
next year. If they do then that's damn impressive. FSU had tons of close games this year at home, away, and probably every where else. If they're a better team next
year then they can develop players really fast.

Brissett outweighs Trickett by like 50 lbs, and he's not a run-first QB like RG3 (who he is also bigger and taller than). Not really much of a comparison.

^^ They don't have those two amazing players, but they do have depth. Look at Alabama. After they lost some of the best players in program history they are still number 1. FSU and Alabama have been competing for number 1 and number 2 recruiting classes for a few years now so I see FSU still be the team to beat.

^He is bigger and he isn't a run first quarterback, but he would get scared in the pocket and run at the slightest hint of getting hit. It doesn't matter how big you are, if you start taking shots then you're going to get hurt.

I think Brisset has good pocket awareness, it's just the OL is weak and collapses which forces him into scrambling situations. It's not much of a surprise as I watched Wilson, Glennon, and sadly now Brisset get violated by the opposing team's DL since our OL doesn't protect QBs well. When Wilson transferred to Wisconsin everyone realized how good of a QB he really was as he could sit in the pocket and pick apart defenses.

Behind Winston they have 3 4* QBs, but not nearly as much experience. The reason FSU is going to still be really good, is that they aren't losing a single starter on defense(barring anyone going pro early) and only 2 guys off their entire defensive 2-deep. Their offense might take a step back, but you have to think by the time we play them, that offense will have several games under their belt and be playing at a pretty high level given the pure talent. FSU isn't going to be rebuilding anytime soon, they're just reloading. They won't go undefeated but they are definitely the odds on favorite to win the ACC walking away. FSU had a top 3 recruiting class last year, and currently have the #3 class for this year. They're stocking the pantry with a ton of top-tier talent and their coaches have proven to be solid at developing this talent.

The team that we have to really hope takes a step back next year is Clemson. They lose a TON of talent on defense and lose their high-profile OC. Another team that is going to have a ton of talent but not a ton of experience. Going to depend on Watson to carry their team and stay healthy.

Looking back at who everyone is losing, it looks like we have a decent shot at 9 to 12 wins. Win all non-conference, win all home games (maybe lose 1-2 between Clempson, UL, and the Tar-holes), and only lose one or two away game (either FSU or BC). We are better than we have been recently so I think the WF shit is done, and VT and Cuse should be solid wins because they don't really have any impressive players to take us on. Clempson is losing a lot and we could challenge them, especially at home. UL and the Tar-holes should be wins at home, again because they just don't have the playmakers to beat us. BC and FSU worry me because of their home field atmosphere. Worst case scenario if NC State shit hits the fan and everything crumbles on defense 8-4 (losses to FSU, BC, Clemson, and Louisville/UNC). Best case scenario 12-0 (absolutely ridiculous and will only happen if everything goes our way but of the potential losses only FSU seems like a tough team to beat, but their defense isn't getting any better as it seems and their offense is losing a lot of talent).

8-4 seems about right. 9-3 would be very nice, 7-5 would be disappointing. 10-2 would get me in line to blow Doeren and 6-6 would mean we were down to our 3rd string QB (whoever the fuck that would be) by the 4th game.

We won't beat Clemson if Watson is healthy. Same goes for FSU unless their QB really blows. That leaves us one loss (if we are to get to a good 9-3) against either UL, @BC, or @VT (of course there is @Wake...fucking Winston Salem). That's going to be tough. That's why I think 8-4 seems likely.

If we find a good replacement at LT, average ST play, and Brisset keeps up with his play towards the end of the year...then we should have a pretty good team next year. I'm excited.

I too agree that the absolute best case ontario is a perfect season. BUT this is where you are wrong; if my math is correct, we would have to go 15-0 for a true best case ontario situation.

Break down:

12-0 for the regular season.

THEN, add the ACC Title game, which would result in a 13-0 record.

Round one win in the 4 team playoff would put us at 14-0.

A win in the national championship game would put us at 15-0.

I will need to see where the BYE weeks land before I guess at our record. A BYE before a 'should win' doesn't do us too many favors, but a BYE before a toss-up could go a long way.

Should win:
Home v Troy
Home v E. Kentucky
Away v Old Dominion
Away v S. Alabama
Home v Syracuse

Toss-ups:
Home v Louisville - played them tough this year, but I fear their offense will be improved
Home v UNC - always going to be a toss up
Away v Boston College - curse of TOB
Away v Wake Forest - I rather not explain why, too painful
Away v Virginia Tech - I just hope it's not a night game, or VT has a BYE before playing us

Should lose:
Home v Clemson - their QB (if healthy) will likely be the O-POY
Away v Florida State - their Defense will by nasty

^hard to disagree with that. we'll be better than wake so i'd be inclined to call that a "should win" but given our road woes in winston-salem, i don't blame you for putting it as a "toss up".

as a way too early guess, 8 regular season wins seems reasonable.

^sign me up for that right this second.

I'm not quite as optimistic. Not because i think we'll be bad or anything like that. I just think we still have a ways to go to compete for the division title and win 10 games or whatever. FSU loses a lot, but they're reloading and should still win the ACC next year. Clemson loses a lot defensively, but if DeShaun Watson can stay healthy their O is gonna be dangerous again in 2015. I don't know much about Louisville, to be honest, but I've seen others saying they lose a lot this year.

Louisville had a dangerous QB/WR/RB combo, but they were all hurt at some point in the year, except the their game vs us #NCStateShit, and I believe they were all FR & So. This is all from memory, so I could be completely off.

Vtech just needs to find a decent QB. Their current guy is abysmal. And the back-ups have to be worse if they can't supplant him.

Don't get me wrong, Florida State is the team to beat in the ACC and will be preseason favorites. I'm just not sold that they'll be better then they were this year and they already had so many games that came down to the wire. I have no idea if he'll start next year but their backup QB is currently Maguire, and I wasn't too impressed with him in the FSU/Clemson game. Jacoby is a much better QB. With that being said, their freshman RB Cook is one of the best in the ACC so he'll be scary good next year.

Quote :

Their defense is average at best. They were down to Wake Forest this year and WF had a crap offense. We put up 24 points on them in one quarter, and GT had over 300 rush yards on them. Credit to their coaching staff for going undefeated in regular season but their defense is vulnerable.

Quote :

I'll be looking forward to this game as we typically play Clemson good at home. Also, since the sexual assault they did on State in death valley hopefully the players will have revenge on their mind.

They lost to WF in one of the most boring and lowest scoring games I ever saw. Maybe they'll get their mojo back next year but as of now I would actually rank them below us.
