Finally got around to seeing this movie. Not bad at all. The ending was a bit of a downer and I didn't like the way it endorsed the hipster notion that the worst sin a musician can commit is to want to be "popular". Otherwise a cool flick.

^^ i don't think it's endorsing that notion at all. it wasn't that it's bad to be popular so much as being popular just wasn't what inspired the band, frank especially, and jon failed to understand that and ruined frank as a result.

dingus, maybe. i might have been a bit hard on the film.

i will say that the movie introduced me to the comedy of Frank Sidebottom, who is hilarious. A lot less dark and more silly than the movie. He reminds me of Pee Wee Herman meets Pete and Pete on old Adult Swim...with music.
