Sounds like Samsung has a round faced one set to debut in Sept too. I'm tempted to go ahead and get the first Moto 360 version now with the price drop to $149 though.7/6/2015 10:26:58 AM |

My initial thoughts:
While I'm not blown away but the device or its features, it serves the purposes of exactly what I want and there is more to come. It's rather simplistic, though in a good way, but it does make you want more. The voice replies to text works pretty flawlessly (you just have to install Android Wear on the phone and that's it you don't have to set up anything), I'll have to dig deeper on this matter but overall I'm satisfied at this point. Of course it won't get a 10/10 from me but I predict that it'll at least be a 7/10 after I really get to know it.
As far as form factor, the size it pretty good for me, I don't mind the bezel, and the band on this thing is like rubber silk - no joke. Feels very good on the wrist. 7/7/2015 8:39:31 PM |

Quick update, after three days of normal use the battery life is at 49%. That's all for now I have much more to say later after a few more days of usage. 7/10/2015 11:32:44 AM |

Really, the biggest this for me ( as I work in a factory ) is to be able to feel my phone ring on the factory floor. I did use the Vera app to control lights and things in my house, but it is too cumbersome... just easier to use the phone. 7/12/2015 7:21:02 PM |

So far so good. One thing I don't like, though not a complaint per se, is that since a group text message is bundled as an MMS (not an SMS from a single texter) you get no notification for it the same as a picture message. Getting use to messages on you arm is rather annoying in the beginning, and it's 10x more distracting than a phone. But I do like that I can disable notifications from apps or allow them as I please, especially email since most emails are nothing I need to know about immediately. Being able to not miss a text when your phone is on vibrate is quite essential to such a device since that's probably 90% of the reason to have one, and with that said I couldn't recommend a smartwatch to just anybody - its just not enough to do with it unless you really are into these types of toys. I do like the buttons instead of a touch screen in a way since it's every easy not to misclick or go to another screen on accident like with a touch screen. However I would like to have a calculator on this thing but pretty much its impossible unless it had a touch screen. I do think its over priced for the core offering (no GPS or heart rate monitor built in) by about $50, but it having the possibility to be augmented though smart bands has a potential that is yet realized and I'd be happy to see how that goes. Battery life was a solid 5 days for me which I did not expect 7 days worth so I'm impressed with that. Overall I'd give it a 7/10 with the possibly of re-reviewing after smartbands really hit the market. 7/13/2015 1:34:41 PM |

Firmware update 3.2 makes the watch quite a bit better.
Highlights: - adjust backlight intensity - adjust backlight timeout - adjust test size - adjust vibration
There are a few other good changes within like with notifications and the music app as well that are pretty good.

Picked up one of these last week off cowboom for $55. Definitely worth it at that price. The one I bought was used and said it had some minor scratches, but I couldn't find a single one even under direct sunlight. Coming from the original Pebble, I thought the only improvement was going to be the color screen, but there are a ton of little things they changed with the firmware that make using it so much better day to day. Plus it feels so much smaller on my wrist. I never really thought the OG Pebble was that big, but it feels enormous compared to this. I got a full 6 days of usage on the charge that it came with and that was with heavier usage than normal due to just trying more stuff out. Haven't got to try out the microphone yet cause I'm on iOS, but the dev for Smartwatch + said he was going to update that with mic support now that they've released that API. All in all, I gotta say I'm pretty pleased. 10/21/2015 1:56:03 AM |

i have debated getting a pebble for a really long time. honestly though at this point i am having a hard time with them still using kickstarter as an online retail store that protects them from failing to deliver. it just feels sleazy even if it is perfectly legit in the ToS
i do like what i have seen so far on the p2 though

https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/30/fitbit-is-reportedly-buying-pebble/
Quote : | "Fitbit is reportedly buying Pebble
An anonymous source confirms the acquisition is happening at a price between $34 and $40 million.
Pebble might only live on in our memories and Fitbit's devices in the future. According to The Information, Fitbit is buying smartwatch maker Pebble for an undisclosed amount. An anonymous source indicates to Engadget that Fitbit is buying the indie smartwatch maker for only $34 to $40 million -- barely enough to cover its debts to suppliers, which amount to at least $25 million. Pebble has apparently been looking to sell for quite a while now due to financial issues. If you'll recall, the indie smartwatch company laid off 25 percent of its workforce back in March this year because money was "pretty tight."
Our source also told us that Pebble has had better offers in the past. Citizen reportedly offered to buy up Pebble for $740 million in 2015, but the company refused. After Pebble Time Round's poor performance on the market, Intel offered to acquire the smaller company for $70 million if it would agree to hold off on launching the Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 Kickstarter campaign. Unfortunately, the company refused that offer, as well despite key execs' threats to leave.
So, what will happen to Pebble's devices? The Information says they'll be phased out after the acquisition, because Fitbit is buying the company to get access to its technologies and intellectual properties, including its operating system. Since the newest device out of Pebble's HQ is more of a fitness tracker than a smartwatch, it doesn't seem so odd that a company famous for fitness wearables would be interested in snapping it up. We've reached out to both companies for confirmation and will update this post when we hear back." |
