I'm trying to help my younger brother sell his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/ 166K. It still runs and was running well, but it has recently started making a loud noise - he took it to the mechanic and they said it had a spun rod bearing. I figure if anyone has an interest in this it will be someone looking to rebuild the I-6 engine, drop a rebuit one in there, or part it out.
What's the best way to get this in front of people who might be interested? Craigslist? Any idea how much he's likely to get out of it, or if he's likely just better of scrapping it? Thanks.

I'm sure there's a used motor he could drop in for not a lot of money. Easier and probably cheaper than rebuilding the original. 7/6/2015 2:04:18 PM |

+1 on buying a junkyard motor and doing a swap if you can do the labor yourself. You could try craigslist, but I hope you have lots of patience for scammers. 7/6/2015 5:40:54 PM |

Come on people.
It's pretty obvious he can't swap a motor...hence the existence of this thread.] 7/7/2015 10:16:20 AM |

Put some marvel mystery oil in it, and sell it to the first fool that comes to see it. 7/7/2015 2:06:31 PM |

to be clear, i have not and would not ever do this. I personally would fix the vehicle or sell it at a loss. But iirc a higher weighted oil can make the noise go away or drastically reduce it if you're that kind of skeezy bastard. 7/8/2015 6:57:11 AM |

Forgive my ignorance if that's the case, but can't you just drop the oil pan and install new rod bearings on the Jeep I-6 as long as it hasn't chewed up the crankshaft? Seems cheaper than a junkyard motor if that's an option. 7/8/2015 3:08:19 PM |
