I've never used air fresheners in any of my cars. Unless someone is a smoker or has messy kids or messy pets, is there even a need for these?

I bought a car that a dog had ridden it regularly with the previous owner. It smelled wretched. I bought something from majestic solutions that basically released a chlorine cloud in the car overnight. Had to air it out the next morning, but it literally killed everything in the car. Smelled like a swimming pool for a couple of days, but after that it just had no smell at all. Worked like a charm, but you have to be careful with it. Not really an air freshener as much as an odor killer. I've heard ozone machines work too.
