I can't see a way we don't win 25-30 games. Bigs are gonna be good, wings are gonna be good, guards are gonna be great. Probably top 2-3 in the ACC

I wasn't about people being good. I mean, most of the best bigs in the ACC are seniors. Now it's our turn to have seniors. Just by attrition they've got to seem better I think. And Cat wasn't very good for about a year and a half, and he was more highly touted than everybody else left on our team, so hopefully the martins see that bump in year 3. I just feel good about it, nobodys gonna leave, Cat's even gonna stay, we're gonna be good for once.. Then it'll probably go to shit when it matters (ACCT and NCAAT) 3/9/2016 6:04:35 PM |

if we're talking about our bigs improving - Abu is good. he's not great and has flaws in his game, but he's pretty good. would love for him to be able to knock down a consistent 12-15 foot jumper. i'm maybe somewhat optimistic that Freeman can improve to a degree if he can get healthy. although freeman never has had much offensive game. however, i've given up completely on beejay.

^^^ dude if you really believe that you are in for a serious letdown. At best with everything going right we'll be a bubble team and a 6-8 seed in the acct. we have one big that one could even consider being good and he is a below average defender 3/9/2016 6:17:28 PM |

Itd be awesome if that happens but i put about a 3 delta on that happening
Cat is gone. What we have next year is dsj instead of cat and more depth. so yes, for a 16-17 team losing its best player(by a mile), a bubble team looks to be our upside

power forwards don't generally have the impact of point guards. Derrick Rose, Marcus Smart, Kyrie Irving, singlehandedly balled out as freshmen PGs, just to name a few, and led their teams to the tourney comfortably. Yeah Kyrie got hurt, but the point still remains. 3/9/2016 6:30:24 PM |

Lol look at the supporting cast irving, rose, etc had. Easily much better. Given that dorn and henderson's contributions are difficult to judge at this point, i see us as best case 10-8 acc record 20-11 going into the acct as a 7 seed with dsj leaving after one year along with every big we have 3/9/2016 6:33:37 PM |

We need Lennard to get healthy and for Gott to go out and land at least one big man. Preferably we would get 2, a freshman and a grad transfer, but we need help in the post badly. Anya is a total liability to have on the floor.
Abu and Rowan should take some big jumps heading into next year and adding DSJ/Dorn/Henderson should give us one of the better back courts in the league. If nothing else, the offense will gain some consistency just in the fact that if Rowan or Caleb Martin seemed destined for one of those 2/10 nights, Gott will have other options. That front court has to add offensive talent and depth though. I'd also love it if we got a more defensive minded coach to step into Moxley's role. 3/9/2016 6:45:09 PM |

No one. I think Freeman's injury isn't going to ever be well enough for him to be an ACC caliber player again. I think that's why the coaching staff didn't shut him down even though this season was a lost cause.3/9/2016 7:25:37 PM |

We need to talk some about what other ACC to teams will look like next year. This is basically my half assed, no research, off the top of my head take:
UNC - they lose Brice and Paige, will still be top-5 in the ACC UVA - they lose their heart and soul in Brogden, but still have Bennett so top-3 in the ACC Duke - will lose prick ass Allen and Ingram, still be top-5. Louisville - who knows? If Pitino stays, then they'll be fine, otherwise the ship could start to sink. Syracuse - who knows as well. Pitt - they'll stay the same team they always are so middle of the pack FSU - should be better if the freshman stay Miami - lose three starters, but should remain good because of Larranga. Wake - will continue to suck BC - see Wake GT - lose a couple starters, bottom quartile of the league VT - Buzz is doing a helluva job. Should be in the top half of the league again. ND - losing Auguste, but otherwise they should be back. Top 6 or so in the league Clemson - middle of the league. Losing some couple guys. State - we have a shot to be in the top-7 or so if DSJ is elite and we keep the rest of the team together.
The league will be weaker next year as a whole IMO. We need more help inside though if we are to leap teams like Miami, FSU, Pitt, Syracuse, ND next year.

The gap between us and a lot of the middle tier teams isn't that big, especially if we can have more healthy bodies to put out there. Duke (despite today's effort), UNC and Virginia are all well ahead of us, but nobody else is that far ahead. 3/9/2016 8:24:39 PM |

I don't think we're that far off midfield. State this year could hang with most teams for 35 minutes. It was just that 5-minute stretch where they couldn't do anything that killed them.
Although Barber is a huge hole to fill if he goes pro. 3/9/2016 10:42:42 PM |

Maybe we can get a grad transfer, redshirt Nard, surgery him up right or whatever, and bring him back for when Anya and Abu and the grad transfer are gone. Probably be good enough for back to back ACC Champs 3/10/2016 9:52:31 PM |

Maybe when UNC gets hit with the hammer, Brice Johnson will be deemed to have been ineligible during his playing time, meaning he'd still have eligibility to play college ball, so he could play here for the next few years 3/10/2016 10:09:52 PM |

Next year will be a good year for us. We will have a solid back court and mature players. I assume Cat will leave but everyone else will stay. If Gott can recruit a big that has scoring and passing skills then we will be set. UNC will not worst next year and all honestly they weren't even that good this year for the depth and experience they had. We need a coach that can teach defense to help Gott out in that department, because we gotta guard them too pal. 3/11/2016 12:28:13 AM |

Duke is going to be last year UK good with any luck.
I see UNC and UVa both regressing but the league in general will be in a bit of rebuilding year next season.

This years draft must be incredibly thin if Allen is a projected first round pick. He is basically a small version of Hansborough, who gets a lot of points by barreling into guys and getting to the FT line. He's too slow for that to work in the NBA. 3/11/2016 12:57:57 PM |

He's a bitch, but he's 6'5", can shoot well above average, and is actually athletic.
I think he's a mid-first rounder.
Not that I'm ever scared of Clemson...but I hope Blossomgame declares. That dude is a killer.
I'm normally pessimistic...but I really like our team for next year. I'm seeing a big jump for Mav with a year of high level S&C under his belt. Martins will continue to improve, we get Dorn and Henderson for help on D and shooting...and Abu continues his beastly path. We just need to shore up the interior depth in case Lennard's leg has to be amputated and BJ continues underwhelming play.
If Cat comes back...then watch out. Without him...I think we're definite top 5 in the ACC.

Allen also played on the ball a lot this year which isn't natural to him. He's good but like any mid-late first rounder has big bust potential at the next level.
