Anyone tried this? Seems like the best deal ever for an adjustable sit & stand desk.

I did the all black one with the knockout for beer gut. The shipping is $50 so watch out for that.

I've been looking at sit/stand desks for the past 2 years and the prices are coming down.

That deal seems too good to be true. I wonder how cheap it looks in person.

That's my biggest gripe with all of these sit/stand desks. I hate the modern/minimalist look. There's one that has a reclaimed wood top, but it's too thin.

I've been toying with the idea of buying an adjustable frame only and then find a nice piece to put on top.

This company used to sell frames but they took them off the website. They probably need them to fill orders. I got the plainest one they have with the exception of the ergonomic top and it still has a bit of a back order. I wanted the light oak or bamboo color but nobody really comes in my office so it was a waste of money.

These are just ada compliant adjustable height desks, but that's really a great price, assuming it has decent build quality.

Only concern for office environment is there's no modesty plate, but this wouldn't be an issue for home use.

That looks legit. I got rid of my varidesk at work because of how much space it took up, and I actually exercise now / sleep on the floor

@krallum2016

Which Varidesk did you have? I have the Varidesk Pro... 2 years old. I like it, but it's huge and bulky.

Did you sell it and how much did you get for it? I'm hoping to sell mine once I get a new desk.

I had the Pro 36. My company bought them so I'm not sure. As for selling it, I just sat it on an empty desk...

Anyone seen/tried any of these products?

http://www.focaluprightfurniture.com/product-comparison/

I have a permanent standing desk and they look cool for switching between standing/leaning/sitting.

I thought about that too. If I just worked off my laptop that would be great but I have a dual monitor setup and really like my desktop computer better.

My home office is only sit down but my work desk is permanently a standing desk with 3 monitors and my laptop. A big chunk of my day is spent sitting down elsewhere in the office but when I'm at my desk it would be nice to have a stool or something like that to lean on. I imagine drinking at work then using one of those might be a bit challenging though...

So the company is still running Facebook ads but apparently has orders from early February that have not been filled. I tried blasting them on their FB ad today over the shipping delays only to see there were multiple comments in a row saying the same thing.

It is great that they have a wildly successful product but most people do not want to spend ~$400 and then wait for months for their order.

i'm likely going to need a standup desk for a home office in the next few months - let us know what you think

which model did you get? i can't imagine myself actually using the AI one

I got the base model with the ergonomic top. I think the AI one is crazy. It looks like there are 4 presets on the base one, which is plenty for a home user. It is supposed to be delivered on Thursday but I am not sure when I will be back in Raleigh, it might not be until Sunday.

Desk is here. I had asked them to change my order to a bamboo top instead of black, they processed the extra charge but still sent black. I think I am going to go ahead and put it together with the black because I am tired of waiting.

How does everyone handle cables? At work I have a laptop and USB 3.0 dock and I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult but at home for my desktop it would seem the only options are A. Mounting the desktop on the actual table so it goes up and down with it (probably not an option due to weight) or B. getting really long cords for everything as standard length video/power cables are already at their longest length with the table at seating height.

Thanks that's the approach I'd probably take. The website says it has a 360lb limit so I guess you could put a desktop on it haha.

A comment said the top was solid wood and you could drill into it so yes that is a possibility. Alternatively with the XL version (72") you could probably just set the tower one one side. I currently have a 30" by 60" desk and it fits three monitors (24/27/24) snugly so the extra 12" would be plenty for a tower on one side albeit having a full size tower on my desk isn't the most appealing option so ideally having it underneath would be the best.

These guys are good too and seem to be competitive (albeit slightly more expensive):

For tower:

http://www.ergodepot.com/Humanscale_CPU_Holder_555_p/cpu555.htm

Desk:

http://www.ergodepot.com/Jarvis_Desk_p/jrv-pwd.htm

Twice the price for the base desk. However the CPU holder would work on the Autonomous desk...I think.

Also these guys:

http://www.thehumansolution.com/height-adjustable-sit-stand-desk.html

Starting at $499.

At least everyone is lowering their prices now that Autonomous came out with a cheaper one.

I got a skylake processor, I want to move the PC as little as possible since they fucked up with the substrate and the heatsink can bend it if jolted too much

Desk is assembled and let me tell you I am fucking impressed. It rises and lowers very smoothly and quietly, the assembly only took about a half hour, and the presets are easy to program.

I ended up with two tops because I decided against the black after it had shipped, so if anyone wants to try to just order the hardware and tell them you have your own top I will make you a deal on a black ergonomic top.

lots and lots of cable ties, and enough slack for everything on the desk to go up and down.

Yeah I like how clean it is. Although you only have one monitor and a laptop. It becomes more of a challenge when you've got a tower, 2-3+ monitors and various other accessories. Same concept though...lots of cable ties. haha.

I have dual monitors that are like 24" each and a full size tower. I still have not moved everything over...kind of dreading it. Also I need to get this U shaped desk out, its fucking huge.

My wife just hired an interior designer for the bedroom... she mentioned to her about my idea of buying an adjustable frame and hiring someone locally to build a reclaimed wood desktop.

The designer said she knows a few builders who could do it. I'm a little worried that it may not look like what's in my mind, but I'm gonna have to suck it up and trust someone to do it.

I want a sit/stand desk, but I don't like the minimalist, thin desktop look. So I want a top that's thicker; maybe thick enough for drawers.

The motors on the autonomous frame are pretty strong, not sure how much weight they can lift but you can tell they are geared really low to give them strength.

I just ordered one of these as well... selected black top, grey frame. Immediately got order confirmation for a white top, white frame desk. So it seems they need to fix their shiz.

I emailed them telling not to send me a white on white one, hopefully they get it right.

Thank you for your order with Autonomous.

We would like to send you an update on the status of your order. Due to an unforeseen high volume of orders received, we are sorry to inform you that your SmartDesk frame has a production delay which has caused your shipping date to be pushed back to the end of August.

However, we have just developed a new frame design for our SmartDesk which we are going to launch later this month. We would like to know if you would you be interested in having this new frame for your order instead or the old design so we can expedite your order? The new frame design works just the same as the old one with a slight difference in the design. The shipping date for your order if you choose the new design would be between July 18th and July 27th.

If you want to stick with the original order, we will send you another email confirming your new ship date. Please let us know at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,
The Autonomous Team"

Yeah that was the only complaint but when nice industrial mats are $100+ it doesn't seem that unreasonable plus I'd get my company to pay for it if it's at work.

That mat looks terrible. I have some interlocking pads from Ollies that should work fine. The problem with that is the chair wont roll on those so I do not even use them.

I did not hear anything about the new design, but it sounds like they are changing manufacturers and maybe had to modify the design as part of that? They have terrible shipping delays but sine the desk is $1500 cheaper than comparable desks I guess its worth the wait.

I love my desk. It definitely is easier on your back standing up periodically.
