Anyone here used the Carista App? My SIL complained about her VW Jetta always beeping the horn when she locks the car via remote. Did some digging online only to find that with her option package this is not something she can turn off herself. Apparently it's a big complaint among VW owners. Some posters addressed by taking to a dealer but some refuse to do it and some charge for it.

One option I came across was this Carista app. It's an app that interfaces with an OBD2 reader and pulls/clears codes for any make/model. But for certain makes it allows customization settings like the horn-beep behavior, remote behavior, lights, gauges, window/sunroof, etc.

The catch is that the customization functionality requires a $20 "pro package." I already have an OBD2 reader but am hesitant to spend the $20. Anyone have any experience with this app?

Any thoughts on whether or not I'd be able to find a handful of people who'd be willing to pay ~$5 for the ability to do this customization (just until I recoup the cost of the pro package)? Or is there just not much demand for this type/level of tweaking?

Somebody at the dealership should be able to hook up their VAG COM and change pretty much whatever she wants. Here in charlotte it's $50. Just bring them a list of what you want done. Alternatively you could hook up with a local VW group and make some friends.
