Thought it might be nice to start a thread about male fashion on TWW.
I'm turning 30 next week and feel like I'm kind of in a transition as far as what's age-appropriate but still fashionable. I've been looking around online a bit for resources but thought it would be nice to have something that's pertinent to Raleigh / North Carolina fashion.
/r/malefashionadvice is definitely geared toward big city niche streetwear (NYC in particular), which seems like it wouldn't fit in most situations here and/or high end dressy stuff and I'm just not in situations where dressing like that is practical.
/r/navyblazer is more New England / preppy / Ivy League look geared but I'm not sure how well a lot of that stuff would fit in down South unless you're in a frat or are a lawyer or something.
Anyway, what do you wear? Any good resources? Or just post cool shit you've bought lately. 9/29/2016 1:04:44 PM |

Are you single? If not wear what you want and what is comfortable or what your wife/sig other thinks looks good when you go out. 9/29/2016 1:39:07 PM |

Holy crap you mean there are still people in their 20's on this board? Wow, youngins. I feel like the watch thread is a pretty good example of male fashion.
I really don't have the cash to afford anything fashionable. 9/29/2016 3:30:17 PM |

i'm lucky (at least imo, others may disagree) that i don't have to dress up for work. i work outside and wear t-shirt and shorts or jeans/work pants every day.
as far as my non-work attire...i'm far from an expert on fashion. but i tend to go with the simple, comfortable stuff. my go to stuff in the warm months are shorts and either a plain t-shirt or, when i'm dressing slightly up, a button up shirt. for cooler months i go with khaki pants (not much of a jean wearer, myself). strictly on personal preference, i prefer button down shirts to polo style shirts, although, i don't wear button down shirts all the time or anything. if i don't have to dress up, i won't...khaki pants/shorts and a plain, nice fitting t-shirt are generally my everyday wear.
for shoes, again, i stick with the simple/comfortable routine. for tennis shoes i have some rather plain new balance 501s. y'all might make fun of me for this, but i also like the canvas crocs (http://img.bluekangaroo.com/images/offer/38/02/original-7124ef1230faae3b94270913d9eef80e-41090238.jpg) for casual and comfortable. they go fine with pants or shorts so that's nice. and for a nicer shoe, i like loafers.
i do not like to shop and try on clothes and go through all that...i'm just not a very patient person in that regard. so i find a few brands that i like that fit nicely and stick with those so i can buy online. i like bonobos' shorts - but they can be sorta pricey (~$70), but they are quite comfortable and for me, they are the perfect length. i also buy some stuff from jcrew and the jcrew factory site. you can sometimes find some stuff on clearance for great prices there.
just a few links here to show what i'm talking about
the bonobos shorts i mentioned https://bonobos.com/products/washed-chino-shorts?color=khaki&short-length=7%20in&short-waist=32
"plain t shirt" might be something like this...these fit me well and are comfortable. you can find 'em on sale for like $10 sometimes. i feel like saying i wear a t shirt sounds kinda sloppy and lazy...and maybe it is. but if they aren't overly baggy and are simple/plain then they don't look sloppy at all. https://factory.jcrew.com/mens-clothing/tees_polos_fleece/short_sleeve_tees/PRDOVR~E7801/E7801.jsp?color_name=deep-pool
just an example of a button down i might wear if i'm trying to dress slightly up...obviously not like a tie and jacket kinda thing, but something more than a t shirt. https://factory.jcrew.com/mens-clothing/shirts/washed_shirts/PRDOVR~24182/24182.jsp?color_name=red-faded-blue
it helps to have a girlfriend that isn't overly concerned with me dressing up a lot and she's good about making sure i don't leave the house looking like a complete idiot.
