Personally, short of gif-bombing threads for the sake of ruining the experience for all other users I don't think any opinion or thought should be moderated, no matter how poor in taste.

I'm just saying there would be no accountability if I just suspended him now.

I have no idea the circumstances surrounding this thread, nor do I know what sort of conduct gets any user suspended. However, I think an open and honest post (even if it is locked after one post) by a mod about why exactly someone was punished would be a good idea. Just my $.02, I've never been reprimanded by any mod on this site, nor have I kept up with any of the gossip about why anyone has been disciplined.

So after having read two pages of Site Info I feel like I may have asked for too much. While it may prevent future infractions to have an open forum, the above links pretty much tell you what the policies for conduct are and how the mods are supposed to enforce them. Are they actually doing that the way its outlined in the Account Policies? who knows... But for the price I pay for this service ($0/14 years) I'm willing to accept that if they don't, then no one has really been damaged. If anyone wants to continue to read JCE2011's opinions on anything it appears you can PM him. (can anyone confirm?, I don't know what suspended status restricts a user to) Furthermore, the operators of this site "make NO guarantees on the quality or presence of our service. What you see is what you get."

Which, hey, let me rant a second: qntmfred, if you suspended him and only suspended him from Chit Chat, that's a chickenshit move, dude. I'm fuckin' pre-9/11 on this site, and I've had the misfortune to see and meet some real wastes of flesh. There've been stalkers, dudes who beat women, all manner of racists and fuckin' sex offenders posting on these boards on a daily basis for years and years, and very little has ever fucking happened to them. And God forbid you bring them up. People who talk about the fact of a thing and call a spade a spade are more likely to get suspended than the degenerate bastards themselves.

There is nothing to be gained and plenty to be risked by allowing obvious fucking scum to participate. Now, that having been said, if the policy is to be hands off, then that fucking sucks, but so be it. But to just sort of selectively be like, "Buh, nyah, you can't post on this one very specific board anymore"? That isn't even a half measure. I think that's actually hurting more than it helps!
