Quote : | "More than 20 EU states are set to sign up for a landmark joint defence pact on Monday (Nov 13) as Europe seeks closer military ties in the wake of Brexit and as Russia flexes its muscles to the east.
The permanent structured cooperation on defence - or Pesco - aims to deepen defence cooperation between European Union members and improve coordination in the development of new military technology.
The agreement is part of efforts led by Germany and France to push closer defence ties as a way of rebooting the bloc after Britain's shock vote to leave and follows the announcement in June of a European Defence Fund that will receive 5.5 billion euros (S$8.7 billion) annually. " |
This article doesn't mention other articles say Trump was a factor with his shaky support for Europe and love for Putin.
Hard to say where this will lead... as an armchair expert i think this COULD be a good thing for the US if we spent less on military and tried to strengthen diplomacy, but i think what would happen is we'll just concentrate the use of military elsewhere, and Trumpism will continue to put us at odds with Europe in favor of Putin.11/13/2017 4:34:34 PM |
