Hey yall. I have a friend with a dog who is missing his two front leg up to just above the elbow joint on one side, and its nearly gone on the other. He has a pretty difficult time getting around, so I'm looking to find someone with some knowledge of prosthetics or even just machining/ 3D printing, or some way to build my buddy a set of legs. I don't even know if there is such a thing, just figured someone on here might have an idea. Thanks!

I don’t think this is really a “try a few ideas” kind of situation. If you don’t know what you’re doing you may end up just putting the dog in more discomfort or even injuring it. If it’s a matter of expense, start a gofundme. People eat that shit up for dogs. 5/31/2018 2:37:32 AM |

I think it's interesting that you thought TWW would provide a decent solution to this problem. 5/31/2018 8:51:06 AM |

I second contacting the NC State Vet School that was suggested in the second post. They specialize in making prosthetics for animals. 5/31/2018 1:21:42 PM |

Ok, so I probably should have said that all the animal ortho places have already turned him down because he doesn't have enough of a nub to mount a prosthetic to. So I have to make him something myself. Basically a vest, that has the support on his chest but balances off his nub if that makes sense? Anyways I've got some ideas and just want to run them by someone who is familiar with CAD, 3d printing, machining or prosthetics so I can come up with a solution. 6/1/2018 1:31:19 AM |
