What are your options?

I'll sell you my wife's kia.. Is that what this threads about?
9/7/2018 8:38:58 PM
Yah I'm pretty sure that's on topic.
9/7/2018 9:50:55 PM
lol wtf. I bought a Santa Fe Sport this afternoon. I had been bouncing around between the Santa Fe, Tucson, Toyota Rav4, Highlander and Audi Q5.
9/7/2018 9:56:43 PM
Well shit, I thought we might be able to influence your decision
9/7/2018 10:28:24 PM
Please reference https://twitter.com/kenwarner/status/972204003907031040That said, feel free to criticize my decision. I do love buyer's remorse. To clarify, I got a 2018 Santa Fe Sport with the 2.0L Turbo. I think I got a good deal on a year end model but hey I only buy new cars every 5 years so I could have missed something. MSRP is 33k I got it for 26.5. I would have gone for the Ultimate edition with the panoramic sunroof, premium speakers and all the extra safety whatnots, but the only one I could find in the colors I liked was in Spartanburg SC and didn't want to make that drive.[Edited on September 7, 2018 at 10:59 PM. Reason : commence the criticisms]
9/7/2018 10:46:55 PM
too sporty. mid-life crisis much?
9/8/2018 12:13:35 AM
get out.
9/8/2018 8:39:55 AM
Highlander wasn't worth the extra $?[Edited on September 9, 2018 at 12:23 PM. Reason : and Q5 more so? If you are planning on keeping this for a long time, good job avoiding the Audi]
9/9/2018 12:22:26 PM
eh, it wasn't about the money. honestly I just didn't like the styling of the highlander or the rav4 as much. and Toyota doesn't do Android Auto. plus all 4 cars I've ever bought have been Toyotas and figured it was time to try something else. I've been admiring the improved Hyundai designs for a few years now.
9/9/2018 2:55:06 PM
My dad bought one of the 1.6 turbo kia's after trading in his v6 mustang.I can kinda understand why he did it, as the mustang isn't really practical.I'll say this, I don't think any of the cars in the segment are inspiring. They are great at being cars, but nothing more, they are the vanilla milkshake of vehicles. I own a CRV, it's an amazing car, but I don't feel anything for it, and I don't have any compulsion for something newer.
9/9/2018 10:22:17 PM
Congrats on new vehicle purchase. Big decision like that is always somewhat exciting...even if the vehicle in question isn't.
9/10/2018 8:54:44 AM
the other thing about this is I just moved from NJ/NYC so I was using public transportation or Lyft most of the time. in the last 6 years I drive maybe twice a week. I live in Cary now but I WFH so I'm still not gonna be driving much at all. Didn't make sense to spend more on a car I'm barely gonna have a chance to enjoy anyways.the Q5 would have been "nicer" for similar money, but I've always been a "get a nice sensible car, who you trying to impress anyways" kinda guy. hard to break out of that mindset.[Edited on September 10, 2018 at 10:02 AM. Reason : flex]

Lambo Urus or GTFO.I have been told that's what all the rich people have moved to these days.(or RR Cullinan)

I've got a shopping question. I've got my camry up for sale and am looking to get something a little newer and less miles.Between the Honda, Toyota and Nissan 4 door car selections which should I go with? something 2006 and newer or so.Budget around $2500Need fuel efficiency/longevity as well as comfort...AND GO
9/11/2018 7:55:01 PM
9/12/2018 8:09:59 AM
He did say 2006 and newer, so I'm figuring he meant $2500...
9/12/2018 10:41:50 AM
Jeep Wrangler [/thread]
9/12/2018 5:28:25 PM
^^
9/13/2018 8:34:46 AM
JT3bucky how many miles does your car have now? you're probably looking at 150k mile cars in that price range, is that less miles?[Edited on September 13, 2018 at 9:16 AM. Reason : .]
9/13/2018 9:16:48 AM
9/13/2018 9:57:38 AM
exactly.
9/13/2018 11:07:34 AM
get an old es300. a camry with the lex interior treatment
9/13/2018 3:54:58 PM
I hate selling my old car but I am impressed by the bumper stickers
9/15/2018 8:00:18 PM
Did you at least get adaptive cruise with traffic jam assist + active lane keep assist features?
9/15/2018 11:03:21 PM
9/22/2018 3:57:42 PM
How do you like your Sante Fe Sport. We are in the market for something in that size. Looking at those and CX-5's but are just getting started. Anyone else have suggestions?
9/24/2018 1:44:48 PM
Forester XT (you might have to go one or two years older model)
9/24/2018 2:46:32 PM
^^ no complaints so far
9/24/2018 6:33:51 PM
We ended up test driving most of the cars in that segment and ended up with a 2018 Tiguan. They had all of the features that we were looking for and the 6yr/72k bumper to bumper was a pretty sweet deal.
10/1/2018 9:27:12 AM
95k miles later and getting the engine replaced under warranty.time to start planning for the next car. probably going back to Toyota.
9/8/2026 9:12:37 PM
That's about right for a Hyundai
9/8/2026 9:56:07 PM
Just got a swasticar in white. Used Legacy Y but 2025 model. AMA.
9/9/2026 8:39:50 AM
that's the only other option I'm considering at this point. when my son was born in 2012 I bought a minivan but told myself I'd go Tesla by 2020. That didn't end up happening and I'd hate to go another 5-10 years without switching to electric.[Edited on September 9, 2026 at 9:26 AM. Reason : maybe I'll just get a used Corolla so I can pass it down to one of my kids in 2-3 years][Edited on September 9, 2026 at 9:27 AM. Reason : maybe we'll be a full on robotaxi civilization by then lul]
9/9/2026 9:25:14 AM
Corolla is a solid idea, especially for the kid. Had my best experiences with Toyota from reliability standpoint. I just left Ford so I joked this was part of my offboarding.
9/9/2026 9:40:50 AM
Get a vehicle with 3 pedals
9/9/2026 1:07:25 PM
I would absolutely, positively not want to go back from EV for a daily driver. If you aren't a performance nut, I'd prob get a Model Y Long Range, or a Model YL.(although I do l love 3 pedals for a weekend toy)
9/10/2026 10:47:48 PM
Would have gotten a YL, but I got the 7 seat Y since the kids are small and fit the 7 seat and they are going to likely fuck it up. Also, the YL being new maybe it will have some issues unforeseen. Probably will be my next one though.
9/14/2026 6:37:11 AM
I hated driving my SIL's Model Y Performance. Sure it was fast, and that's about it. Everything about it was cheap cheap cheap. Apparently they agreed, and replaced it with a Genesis GV70.But they're great as spartan bare bones transportation. As long as you realize that going in.
9/17/2026 4:20:44 PM
What year? There were creaks and suspension issues that got somewhat fixed after 2024. The new Junipers were much nicer with such amenities as cooled seats. You can't have the Genesis drive you places or browse TWW while you charge. Old TWWr is getting rid of his Genesis for the Y. Floor mats are like from the dollar tree.
