I've done as much digging as I could but need you guys to finish it off and bring it to light. I have friends that live in Colvard Farms (on Edgewood) in Durham and they told me they've see Zion out playing basketball with his family. Apparently his mom and siblings now live in this nice $850K+ house.

Here's what I have so far:

The House: 81 Edgewood Dr
https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/81-Edgewood-Dr_Durham_NC_27713_M69542-76014

The Owners of the house bought a house in Apex in April 2017 (so presumably they don't live at the Edgewood house - leaving it open for the Williamsons to live there). I couldn't find anything saying Edgewood was ever up for rent either.

The Neighborhood: Coach Cutcliff lives in the SAME NEIGHBORHOOD! (different section with estate homes, but still...)

And this video shows Zion and his family at his house in SC (used to compare/contrast his family's current living situation): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNc3Af8j0Xo

I now am seeing more info like this being posted on the Internet so it looks the the word is getting out but ya'll are the best at this sort of stuff!!!

Remember when Will Graves lived in a house owned by Roy Williams and absolutely zero consequences ever came out of it? Remember Tami Hansbrough? Joseph Forte's mom and Octogon? 20 years of academic fraud? Etc, etc. I gave up on the idea of the blue bloods getting realistically punished a long time ago, unfortunately.

This remains my sentiment. I care less about these accusations/scandals every time. Maybe it’s because the unc investigation dragged out forever and resulted in nothing. Or maybe it has nothing to do with that - I was pretty exhausted of the UNC scandal even before it ended. But this stuff just really doesn’t register with me anymore.

the FBI aint fuckin around anymore. The NCAA just needs to give in and officially pay these guys. The fact that they aren't getting paid is absurd.

Technically Zion's family could have done what LeBron's family did and taken out a very valuable insurance policy on Zion and then took out a loan against that insurance policy and bought a house.

Isn't that a pretty big gamble in favor of your son getting hurt? How does the possibility of an insurance payout equate to having the funds to buy a house?
When Zion doesn't get injured aren't they going to be incapable of paying that loan?

^^^The #1 HS player coming out of HS, going to Duke, would have probably been a lottery pick directly out of HS...pretty safe bet he's going to make the league.

He makes the league, you're set.
He gets injured and misses the league, you're protected.

Honestly Zion could have pulled a Kyrie and missed 90% of the season with an injury and still likely be a top 10 pick, which is guaranteed millions.

Pretty sure the only way Zion wasn't going to get a guaranteed NBA contract after this season would be if he either died, had a limb amputated or the NBA abruptly just shut down. He could have torn both ACLs and Achilles and still would be a mid-late first round pick.

But how do Zion's parents get a loan based on Zion's future earnings potential?

Zion co-sign for it?

Why would Nike care if he went to Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Clemson (the favorite for him at one point)? They are all Nike schools. Tons of exposure at Duke, obviously, but he'd be a big deal almost anywhere.

Same way LeBron's mother did it. She took out an insurance policy on her son and secured a loan. She then used that loan to buy her son a $50,000 SUV that they had to show proof of the loan for him to remain eligible for HS basketball.

They lived in a small apartment in Cleveland and admitted to having money issues, so no way she was just sitting on $50,000+ to buy her son a Hummer. She took out the insurance policy(wisely) and he was such a well-known commodity the bank gave them a loan knowing they'd get the money back in a year.

A retarded rule, but a rule nonetheless

I got paid $15/hr by the department as a student employee for being a TA and helping with research, not huge money but I dont see why a student athlete couldn't get similar

Makes sense, but it would get exploited. 40 hour timesheets every week for not showing up.

My thought too. LJ's mother bought a Hummer about a week before he announced. I'm guessing most banks, car dealers, real estate companies, etc are willing to take the risk for a month or two just to get his business. They'll get paid soon enough.

I think if student athletes were allowed to have part-time jobs, it would be easy for a booster to hire them, and pay them even if they didn't show up

Ding ding ding (but boosters aren't allowed to have contact with players I believe, even on twitter). How would NCAA even begin to regulate a player profiting off his likeness in the NCAA (with regards to "players should be able to profit off their likeness")? "Zion, I'll give you $100k to sign my Duke jersey." NCAA comes in and caps autograph amount to something like $20 per autograph, well, I'll buy 5,000 autographed t shirts for $20 each. NCAA comes in and says only 5 autographs per person.... It's never ending.

It's simply not an issue the NCAA (or anyone else) can regulate. What they can do is legally doll out stipends to all NCAA athletes across all sports and the monies they doll out will have to be equal to women's sports as men's (Title IX). Hint, this will solve nothing and $3k a semester isn't stopping any of the top football and hoops players from taking less on the side and 115 of the 125 football programs don't print money like people think because the NCAA certainly isn't paying for it.

I don’t think there’s any rule against a booster having contact with an enrolled student-athlete. A booster is basically anybody that has ever given the university or athletic department money. Obviously a booster can’t provide benefits to a player. But I’m pretty sure there’s no rule banning contact.
