Was in the market for a gaming laptop and after trying out the razer 15 advanced (which i liked, but it ran really hot and was a fingerprint magnet..also very pricey) i did some more reading and it seems like everyone likes the Asus zephyrus g15.
I figured i would pick one up from bestbuy.com (has a ryzen 9 5900hs and rtx 3070 16gb ram and 1tb nvme ssd..for $1850..pretty awesome deal imo)
After using it for 2 weeks i am happy to say it is staying with me. The keyboard is pretty good, the trackpad is glass and its awesome. The screen is beautiful, 1440p at 165hz. The thing gets over 8 hours when using integrated graphics and browsing the web/watching youtube. Plug it into the wall and it will easily run any current game..even cyberpunk at 1440p maxed out with raytracing on (using dlss of course). Im shocked that gaming laptops are this thin/light/powerful these days! ..its silent and cool when not gaming.
I highly recommend it. But if youre willing to wait, the zephyrus m16 is around the corner as well as new strix models with AMD discrete graphics..supposedly comparable to a rtx 3080. $1650!

i looked at one of these to replace my work laptop (needed a better gpu) but with timeline for going back to traveling regularly, I opted for a new desktop. did you consider the asus with the external gpu that comes in a kit?

I have a reasonably powerful desktop with a rtx 2080 super so I was looking for portability..an external GPU would be a hassle to move around with the laptop anytime I wanted to work somewhere different. I love having a thin but powerful laptop to play games or use blender while in bed in the evenings. I also tend to take it down to the basement or living room during the day and will be taking it on trips so its nice to only need the laptop and power brick. It even accepts USB-C power delivery so when I am just surfing the web or watching youtube, I can run it on the integrated gpu and sip power from normal usb c power supply. Leaving for a trip to WI this friday and im thinking of NOT bringing my macbook, that would be a first!

depends on what chips are inside and how you tune the fan and power curves. There's a reason most using a gaming laptop use headphones, and it's not the crappy speakers.

The g15 can be used with the fans off if it’s in silent mode and using integrated gpu …if you are gaming on it, you can adjust how hard the fans blow and like previously mentioned, you would most likely use a set of headphones. The speakers on the g15 and impressive as well, best sounding speakers on a Windows laptop.

If you get something intel based it’s unlikely you’ll be able to operate it without fans running.
The g15 uses a Ryzen 9 5900hs and a mobile rtx 3070
