Lockout over Spring Training has started and silly season for FA has begun

Braves traded for Matt Olson who grew up in Atlanta suburbs (same HS as Jeff Francoeur), ending Freddie Freeman tenure in Atlanta. A tough and unpopular decision but in long run may be beneficial to a team that has a hard budget each year.

Yankees acquired Josh Donaldson.

Joey Votto was mic'd up for an inning last night in the field and the announcers were interviewing him during the game. It was pretty fantastic but I wouldn't want my players distracted on the field.

I don't blame winker at all for what he did. Hell I'm amazed he didn't punch Nevin in the face. Fucking manager changed his starting pitcher hours before the game to an opener to explicitly throw at multiple guys. Fucking clown show Angels. Hell they should suspend the goddamn umpire crew chief for letting all this shit happen. The scrub had already thrown a fastball behind a guys head in the first inning, it was painfully clear he was headhunting on orders from his boss.

Winker got 7 (he probably got 2 additional for gesture) He's appealing probably will be reduced to 4 or 5

Rendon (who is out for year) got 5 that he will have to serve next year.


Doesn't change the fact that both teams are not having great years. The Angels are Trout and Ohtani and a bunch of bums. The Mariners have a ton of injuries and have not really been good this year.

Mets down to Phillies now, about to start a 2 game set with NYY. Meanwhile the Braves are up on the Stros and starting a series with the Pirates next.

Mets should have Scherzer and deGrom pitching vs NYY though. Wouldn’t be totally shocking if by Wednesday it’s tied. But after this stretch (vs ATL, PHI, NYY) the Mets schedule definitely lightens up.

I’m a Mets fan but it’d be really hard to bet against the Braves winning the NL right now. Especially if Soroka is coming back. Should be fun. LAD, ATL, NYM are all very very very good

The Mets are going to choke. Scherzer's age is catching up to him, he broke down last year in playoffs. DeGrom is your best hope but he can really only pitch once every 5 days.

Since the Mets 10.5 game lead on 6/1 their record is still 51-33. First half the season Mets win % was .624. Second half win % so far is .643. That’s not choking. Thats just getting caught by a really good team that is insanely hot…and that’s if the Mets get caught, which hasn’t happened yet.
