I’m really not satisfied with going to Lowe’s or Home Depot for lumber, cabinets, plumbing or electrical supplies. I do prefer dealing with locally owned businesses but admittedly I have very little experience in doing so around the Raleigh area. I must confess that I go to Lowe’s far too often due to their close proximity to home.
Any recommendations? It’s been years since I’ve been to Capitol City Lumber but I remember them having an unparalleled selection of lumber and plywood varieties. One of the big things I’m interested in is interior or cabinet grade plywood and MDF. 5/27/2022 1:51:43 PM |

Capital Lumber is good. You'll pay a touch more than the big box stores, but the lumber you'll get is a full grade better and they also have this odd thing called customer service. They'll also deliver.
For other building supplies, you're probably going to have to set up contractor accounts at supply houses. You'll probably need to fake a business to do that. 5/28/2022 9:48:35 AM |

I have really good luck w/ Habitat ReStore. Also, the Raleigh Blvd location has a shitload of lumber right now. 5/31/2022 3:42:58 PM |
