Is it just me or has YouTube, as a platform, been going downhill since the mid 2010s? Some things have improved, but the "QOL" seems worse. Things are less functional, layouts are more ambiguous, rules seem to be implemented without any regard for what the creators/community think... and the algorithm... bruh. It just seems like a failing organization, but given their immense user base and platform... it is impossible for them to really fail.

To those of you with corporate experience, or experience in the issues I've mentioned, or any thoughts... what do you think?

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I think YouTube is the best "social media" platform out there, but I feel that is credited more to the original idea and development than current management.

"Steel that was formed before we started making nuclear contamination, known as low-background steel or pre-war steel, often in the form of old naval vessels and other large, old, steel infrastructure, has a special value to us. It can be used for building instruments with high sensitivity to radiation, as the steel made since becomes polluted with what is now part of the world.
I see a strong metaphor for literature authored before a specific time, roughly when the web came to be, or certainly when two way discourse on a page, or aggregation, became prevalent. And certainly far before bespoke communications targeted at us, as individuals or interest groups.

If the modern web were air it would taste of metal; I have a fear that I will become biased that older texts are superior for the sole reason that modern texts can be assumed inferior."

I've thought about this myself as well. Like often you'll hear people say something along the lines of "why don't we have classical art and this beautiful that and whatever anymore"... and we do, except it's just so common now since it is so much more accessible to everyone. Before it was just a thing for elites who had the spare time to do things whilst the majority of people toiled and labored for the day's bread.

dark patterns - a user interface that has been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things.
