I don't think it's better. Facebook forces so much dumb shit on your feed. Like 90% of anything i see is just ai-generated rage bait intended to get boomers to reply. They make it impossible to default to a feed of only posts from friends (i know you can get to it, but it won't show up on the home page as default), which has never been an issue with Twitter. Twitter is very much dying though which is fine because there are replacements available.

^Rip off the Band-Aid. I have the cell phone number for everyone I'm actually friends with. I don't need to keep up with people I barely know or care about while also getting constantly propagandized and data-mined. I'd actually rather not read all the dumb shit people I know say publicly under their own names on the internet if I want to continue to be able to be around them or if there's a necessity to continue to work with them.

I think i mostly am nostalgic for the Facebook of 15+ years ago. I don't really use it at all now. Probably haven't posted anything in literal years. I had it deactivated for a couple years and didn't really miss it, but had to reactivate it to log into something i think and it's still there. Haven't had the app on my phone for at least 5 years.

Its good for recipes, fan pages for tv shows(From, for example but thats only show I follow), memes, local news(i follow my towns page to catch what I may not otherwise catch or to read testimonials from people about trying new restaurants etc)

Other than that and poontang, not too much reason to have it imo

I run some local FB groups on it and that is the only thing I use FB for these days. A couple of the groups are over 5,000 members and are still pretty fun. But I've already started up a Discord server as well as a way for younger people and those not on FB to get involved as well and I really prefer that to FB personally. But not quite ready to pull the plug and shut down the FB groups or leave them with one less admins as the admin team and I are friends who hang out together sometimes as well.

But to Snewf's original point, it is pretty frustrating seeing all that bullshit considering I have friends and coworkers in AVL and Western NC and have been up there since Helene hit.
