Prosecutors resign, refusing to drop the case against NYC Mayor Adams

Quote :
"The current crisis at the Justice Department over the corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams of New York stems partly from the particulars of the law and a recent decree from Attorney General Pam Bondi.

In recent days, the acting deputy attorney general, Emil Bove III, has demanded that career lawyers submit a court filing in New York requesting to dismiss the case against Mr. Adams."

Resignation letter of the lead prosecutor on the case:

I guess that works, if you extend the definition of "prediction" to mean predicting what the cabinet is gonna do next

I'm all for carrying on old posts, but that seems to 10-12 pages of discussion regarding appointees and them getting fired, rather than what they're actually doing. I'll post there though I guess, or maybe mix it up -- whatever comes naturally

Kash Patel sent out an email telling FBI employees that for now they can ignore the DOGE email, and that they'll be working on their own internal methods for evaluation.

Good, but it's also something that needed to be done for a DOJ agency.

Seems ominous

I own every publicly traded stock through broad market index funds. I still want the bad guys to lose. Sounds like Mr. Wonderful is extra salty because he's long on Tesler stock himself. It's certainly not because he cares anything about the well-being of Minnesotans.

This is ineptitude of the highest order.

TL;DR - Waltz started up a group chat in Signal, a secure but unclassified, corporate messaging app, and inadvertently included an Atlantic journalist. Nobody noticed he was there, and they continued to plan and detail a strike on Houthi targets in Yemen.

no I'm not excusing her. What she did was inexcusable; I would have probably gone to prison if I'd done something like that.

...but this is inexcusable, too. Also what a bunch of dumbasses.

I wonder who they thought JG was in the group. And Trump gotta be pretty peeved at Vance I'd think. Hegseth and Waltz can plead ignorance and suck up to trump. Vance straight up like " I don't think trump aware"...probably like the worst thing to say about trump, if you're trump

I just don’t understand. When I’m in a group chat on Teams at work, the first thing I do is go check my audience before I start typing. That’s just basic CYA. They couldn’t even be bothered to do that?

What are the chances that they could be held criminally liable for leaking information?

Also, could they go after Goldberg for not immediately excusing himself from the chat? I’m kinda worried about him as well.

Yea, pretty much. Trump has already said he’s not planning on firing Waltz for the blunder.

Also, Levitt said no classified information was exchanged. How are they going to spin away the fact that Goldberg couldn’t release all of the screenshots because they discussed a CIA operative in the area?

Steve Witkoff was on the chat. He was in Moscow when it was set up. Russian intelligence probably knew the journalist was there before these idiots figured it out (in addition to, you know, everything that was discussed).

In any other administration in history this would be absolutely devastating. Most if not all of these people would have to resign, and the president would have no credibility with their own party.

^^Specific names of CIA operatives were discussed in the chat. Goldberg did no release screenshots of those chats.

If the names of CIA operatives in a specific area isn’t classified, then I don’t know what should be considered classified.

Quote :
"The bigger question we should be asking is: Why are Trump officials using Signal for their communications instead of formal, traceable channels?

The answer seems clear — to avoid transparency.

Signal offers end-to-end encryption and doesn’t store messages on its servers, which makes it nearly impossible for the public or investigators to access those chats. Unlike formal emails or documented communications, Signal conversations can’t be retrieved through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

That’s not just a technical loophole — it’s a deliberate choice to avoid accountability. Most official government communications, by law, are subject to FOIA because the public has a right to know how decisions are made. But when officials move to platforms designed to leave no trace, it raises serious questions about what they’re trying to hide — and why."

It’s wild we have the exact group chat of the specific people gloating over blowing up an apartment building, alongside reports of the women and children that died in the bombing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before…

Imagine having a dead child and seeing the emoji a foreign leader used to celebrate it. This seems bad…

The Atlantic released the entire, unredacted chat. After looking at it, I see where they could argue that no classified information was sent. They were carefully vague on the plans that were sent back and forth.

Still, 100% incompetence here.

Because if it got back to the Houthis, they coulda prepared and it might not have been a good situation for the pilots.

I don't want to spend too much time looking for one, but this one is from the DNI (as opposed to DoD)

(and ^^)

Yep.

...never mind that the name of a "CIA official" was included (and is the sole thing that was redacted by the Atlantic after Trump said none of it is classified, making it legal to release. If they'd just admitted their fuckup, it probably would not have been released in its entirety.)

That name could VERY likely be classified.
