Sorry, I meant that having no job would be my ideal.

Actually, I didn't read the thread title carefully enough.

I thought it was a hypothetical question about whether you had a dream job in your mind, not whether you actively had it.

Oops!

1. I have a job.
2. It is not my dream job.
3. I don't think I have an envisaged dream job at all, except to drop the stress of work and do what I want whilst still being productive.

Happy for you, though, Snewf!

Yes - ever since I left the job I took in 2009 I've been chasing to have my dream job back - finally found it again and it's working for the same CEO again.

My answer is surprisingly close to to Mr. Coz's

I had what was close to a dream job awhile back, but although it was a fun as heck job, it apparently wasn't a good business

My dream job would be as a part time video game streamer on a private stream only accessible to me with unlimited pto starting salary 1 billion a year plus benefits

Don't have it yet but working on it

^ similar to him

I'd probably be a master mechanic, working on vehicles/machines for people around 20 hours per week to stay "busy".

I would provide my mechanic services free of charge to customers, but someone needs to pay me 0.5 billion per year, and give me unlimited PTO and max benefits.

I feel like there isn't such a thing as a dream job, unless we're talking you literally had a dream about a job, and then afterwards decided to do that job

maybe like an ideal job? like something you've thought about and would be like, this would be perfect!

idk there are certain terminologies I don't like, and "dream job" is one of them, mainly because anything work-related is lame as sh*t, so automatically 99.99999% of people are never going to have a dream job. so really the dream is moot for that many people and that is quantifiably correct - you don't even need to check

yeah, it's a dumb thing to take issue with, but I'm on the internet, so you have to deal with my residual mental deficiencies and generally uninformed ramblings

also, too many words have more than 2 definitions, which I think is silly :3 and "dream" is one of those. it's time to put an end to words with multiple definitions.. who's with me?!?! Japan and China are already on board.. well except both of their languages also have symbols/words with multiple meanings

you know what, fuck it, I'm inventing my own language

sike

this has been an unnecessarily long BB post

ok fine, as it turns out, "dream" basically only has 2 major definitions. (2 for each part of speech, that is) so I'll let it slide

you guys had better watch out with your figurative secondary definitions though; I know where you live

let me clarify this further: a "dream job" is generally considered to be one that aligns with someone's passions, interests, and values

connects pretty closely to the Japanese concept of "ikigai"

based on the responses here, I'm going to assume that the majority answer is "No"

I'm annoyed that the final "i" in ikigai is located outside the overlap zone of all 4 circles.

I recently became a process engineer at after nearly 20 years in another dept (asst manager), same workplace. I get to design and implement things to make things run more efficiently.

I like that a lot. I was already doing it to an extent (mainly out of enjoyment), but the people issues get really frustrating, especially being right smack in the middle of C on a DiSC chart.

I don't hate the job I have and I don't wake up thinking, "they don't pay me enough for this shit."

So I'm not complaining.

Don’t wanna call it a dream job cause there’s too much stress and not enough pay for this to be a dream job. Or it would be a really mediocre dream.

But it’s a job that I do love, fits my personality, and skills, and I’m passionate about it.

I'm pleasantly surprised that such a high percentage of TWW respondents (so far) have a job they don't objectively hate.

Nice job, guys!

Because I don't wish ill on you.

I really assumed such jobs were mostly a myth.

Complicated question. The job I think I liked the most paid very little. The job I have now, I do enjoy and pays well, so my overall happiness is much higher. My actual dream job would probably be, as others have said, play video games for a billion dollars/yr.

^^ I guess at a certain point in the 'video game industry', if you become successful enough and have years of experience (which is always a mix of luck and hard work), your job eventually might become like that. where you're employed for who you are rather than the actual 'effort' you put in
be an exec of some sort, verify what's good, give your input
earn a lot

I don't think there is such a thing as a "dream job".

Unless it involves staying up as late as I want, sleeping as late as I want, working in the yard/garden/garage when I want, going on bike rides and hikes when I want, taking vacations when I want to wherever I want, watching shows and gaming when I want, ... and having enough money to live modestly but "comfortably"...

It really befuddles me when people say they don't know what they'll do with their time when they retire... I can hardly wait (except I'll be older and more decrepit).

I mean, the job I have is "fine". I "enjoy" some of the work, I feel like I'm making a positive difference, I like my co-workers and supervisors, and it's enough pay to live "comfortably". But I still get up every morning and say to myself "here we go again, another day, another dollar.." And I wish I could just sleep another hour, cook-up a good breakfast, go tend to the veggies in the garden, take a ride on a trail and meet a few friends for dinner and drinks (or spend a couple hours preparing a delicious dinner)

My dream job would be to operate a Christmas tree farm, where I could donate a large majority of the trees to families who can’t afford one.

I’d like to make it a whole destination thing, where you come and hang out for a weekend, pick a tree, stay a few nights, and have fun in the mountains.

Thinking about sometime in the future I'll found my own software consulting company/business, and hire my daughter as the secretary.

What if being shoot’s secretary is her dream job?

Or what if it isn’t her dream job?

I've had a few dream jobs. at least one ended up being a nightmare in the end, but I suppose that's how it goes sometimes.

I'm officially applying for jobs again, and this one has dream job potential. wish me luck.

To be fair, a nightmare is a type of dream.

Also, that's a baller resume. I like the closer.

How do you say you are bad at making videos and not include "Humans"? That as pretty good.
