This is what goes through my head while driving on Cates/Pullen:Gemini2.5 FlashConversation with GeminiFriends, fellow members of the Wolfpack family,We stand here today on hallowed ground, ground where legends were made and history was forged. We are not just fans; we are the keepers of a legacy. A legacy of grit, of heart, of unyielding spirit. This is a story of NC State.Think back to the giants who came before us. The rumble of Reynolds Coliseum, the deafening roar as a young David Thompson soared for a dunk, defying gravity and expectations. He wasn't just a player; he was a symbol of what's possible when talent meets sheer will. The "Cardiac Pack" of 1983, a team of underdogs who refused to be told they couldn't. They danced their way through the tournament, a joyous, improbable journey that ended with Lorenzo Charles' last-second tip-in, etching their names into the annals of sports history forever. A testament to the power of belief, of playing for the guy next to you, and of never, ever giving up.But our story isn't just about basketball. It’s about the iron resolve of our football teams, who have battled through the toughest conferences and left it all on the field. It’s about the incredible athletes in every sport, from track and field to baseball, who have worn the red and white with pride, pushing the boundaries of what is possible. It’s about the unshakeable bond that connects every generation of the Wolfpack. What is the common thread that runs through all these moments? It's not just talent; it's the NC State spirit. It's the refusal to back down from a challenge. It's the knowledge that we are always the underdogs, and we wouldn't have it any other way. It's the understanding that we play for more than just ourselves; we play for every alum who has ever cheered from the stands, every student who has ever painted their face, every person who has ever bled red and white.Today, we honor that history by carrying it forward. The torch is now in your hands. The legacy of Thompson, Valvano, and countless others is yours to uphold. When you step onto the field, the court, or the track, you are not just representing a team; you are representing a family. A family that knows what it means to fight, to persevere, and to believe in the impossible.Let their victories inspire you. Let their struggles fuel you. Let their legacy be the fire in your belly. Go out there and make your own history. Show the world the heart of the Wolfpack.
