or give the option to turn them off. nothing is more annoying than having music blaring and hearing someone's gay ass theme song from their profile or "teh fish" song LOUD AS FUCK.

Get one of these and you'll always have the option of turning them off:

Embeding is a premium benefit and I doubt it'll be turned off because that's a major selling point.

uhm actually you can turn off the sounds, it's in the settings thing you have the option to "allow" or "not allow" sounds on TWW

That's the sounds TWW generates. These sounds only exist when you're getting new mail. Since TWW is not generating the sounds people embed, there's no way this can get rid of them.

yeah you can turn down the volume but when you're listening to music it sucks to have to turn it off to read the thread or whatever... it's just FRUSTRATING.

The sounds are not good especially when there is no way to turn them off. And when they are on the first page of a discussion thread, every time you reply you have to unplug your speakers? That is nonsense. Make it so that there has to be an option that you can click to not play embedded things, or possibly require that embedded things come with some sort of control panel that you can turn off.

PS - the "Play Sounds" option in Settings is not what I mean.
