Game one shots were about even, goals were all on even strength aside from our short handed goal.
Game two we destroyed Buffalo in shots, took more penalties, and still won. As was stated before, Buffalo's goals were all on the one or two man advantage.

Since yall think the hurricanes are so much better, I'll just insult you all, how come it takes until the game day for the stadium to supposely sell out (which I don't think it did for either game) and in Buffalo all games sold out in a day. Suck up the price and go to the games, price in Buffalo are way higher so consider yourself lucky.

Actually, no, prices in Carolina are higher for this round than in Buffalo. There have been a number of articles about this. But regardless, trying to compare North Carolina and New York in terms of hockey markets is ridiculous. Also, I don't really think anyone gives a fuck about how long it took your team to sell out its games.

so I know most people in this thread know jack shit about hockey, which is why there's always a bunch of vag bleeding and no actual hockey discussion, but allow me to break from the trend for a moment

canes played a great game, it seemed like their transition play was at least 3 notches better than in game 1. They also did a much better job on the pp (obviously), but what won the game was the shot differential. Not to discredit the canes, but I think buffalo is more to blame than the canes should be credited. Through the first half of the game, the sabres had the puck in the offensive end much longer than the canes did, but they refused to shoot. You could probably say that this is bc the canes didn't allow them any shooting lanes, but I dont really think this is the case. I feel like the sabres were holding off shooting, trying to make perfect plays to get ideal looks

I think they would've been way better off just taking mediocre shots, instead of trying to create outstanding opportunities, especially bc one of cam's weaknesses is controlling rebounds. Look for them to not hold the puck in the offensive zone as long in game 3, opting for a higher volume of shots with less opportunity per shot, but I think this will translate to greater opportunity for goals overall. Also look for the point defender to be a lot more committed to neutral zone play, in response to the canes great transition play in game 2. I was screaming at the tv for the sabres just to take more shots in general, and I really hope ruff makes an adjustment.

Buffalo was taking shots when they could. Wouldn't surprise me if Buffalo took more shots from the point than Carloina. Buffalo missed the net more often than not so the shots on goal stat is a bit misleading for this game. Besides the 'Canes were having another great game of stifling Buffalo and taking the puck early in the zone.

Buffalo played a really hard first period, more physical then usual and that made them come out flat in the second, either Buffalo has to keep the physical level up the entire game or bring it down a little so that they don't get man handle during the second, just my opinion on the real topic.

You have to give our D a lot of credit for that shot differential as well.

I saw a lot of blocks and just good all-around defensive play out of our guys, wesley in particular.

i was at the game last night, my first hockey playoff experience and it was great. Sabres fans are, as a whole, annoying as fuck. "Lets go Buffalo"??? over and over and over and over again......come up with somethin new fuckin yankees.

Anways, Canes defense was rather stifling....lots of blocks and poke checks. Not really all that many good chances for buffalo to score until there at the end when the refs wanted to all the sudden be bitches. I think Carolina is definately the better team and Whitneys save was...for lack of a better word, awesome. Lots of hard hitting last night.

the canes D was definetly superb last night, and that's obviously a big reason for the lack of shots from buffalo, but....

I still say that they were too selective, trying to hard to crack the D for the perfect opportunity, instead of just firing on some opportunities that were just so-so, and seeing what happened from there. I mean it's better to get the good opps if you can, but the canes were playing solid D, so I think at some point you need to say F it and just start seeing what happens. They did this eventually in the third, but it was a period and half too late imo.

Cam does occasionally have rebound problems, but everyone does, especially as a first year NHL goaltender. Miller had trouble with kicking stuff into the slot yesterday, and he's got twice as much NHL regular season experience as Cam does going back '02. If you wanna talk about someone who has legitimate rebound control problems, look no further than Kevin Weekes.
