weren't jack sawyer and kate were sedated at the end of last season

so they could have been taken to another island inbetween the end of last season and the beginning of this season

the dharma initiative was doing experiments on the island, polar bears came from that, the others are linked to dharma too.

just b/c they don't blatantly come out and say "THIS IS THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION" doesn't mean stuff isn't solved...

we know about the polar bears and why they are there...

hell, i'd even venture to say we know the cause of the "healing powers"....aka electromagnetic field, etc....

Okay, so I've been reading around and people are discussing a three island theory that goes back to the maps seen in the first season, which makes sense to me. One large island where the cast aways live, with a small community for the Others group on one side, and two smaller islands further away, out of sight from the main island, where the Other's have their research stations.
