i was watching, he looked pretty tenetive at first and then he was getting to the hoop at will and playing solid D, dunno if that's enough for them to make him their 15th man... he played well. 10/21/2008 10:44:23 AM |

Quote : | "I really thought Hodge was going to make it. I thought with the impact he made on the coaches with his attitude, with the shooting training, with the roster space the Nets have, I thought he'd make it.
I thought wrong.
Hodge struggled to see the floor. This happened to a lot of the D-Leaguers. Instead of resting their starters or splitting games into solid rotations versus back end bench games, most coaches elected to just throw out the weakest lineups they could find that only used the middle of the rotation in an attempt to force them to gel. It was not succesful.
New Jersey went 2-4. Thing was, Hodge was showing stuff, on and off the court. Just last night, even though he was held to five minutes, he got 2 points and 4 rebounds. 4 boards in five minutes from a backup guard. On Monday he had his best game of the preseason, scoring 8 points with 3 boards and 3 assists in only 11 minutes.
But no.
Likely the injury to Josh Boone and Yi Jianlian (AGAIN) were contributing factors, but it doesn't make it suck any less. Hodge has proven he can play at this level, finally has his head on, and has put the time in.
Frustrating." |

No clue on the money he pulls in, I know some of the players have sponsorships though. It could be anyone from FILA to McGerty's Dairy Farm. BTW he is playing with Luke Schenscher from GT now...
How awesome is this???

Hodge still bringing the emotion in Australia
Quote : | "Where the 36ers' current duo ranks remains to be seen but in Ballinger, they might have the finest pure shooter in the NBL. As for Hodge?
"He alone is worth the price of admission, just to see him," South Dragons and Boomers coach Brian Goorjian said.
Goorjian last night coached his 714th game, putting him in a unique position to judge.
"The 36ers got possibly the best player in the league with Hodge added to their roster," he said. "You see him smiling, waving his arms and getting the crowd involved.
"This league needs personalities like him.
"He's terrific for our sport."
Goorjian's belief Hodge is the NBL's premier import is supported by a poll on the league's website nbl.com.au
Asking whether Hodge is currently the NBL's best import, he has captured 68 per cent of the poll vote.
"That could change of course, as live polls do," NBL media manager Marc Howard said. "But we've had close to 2000 respondents and Julius is overwhelmingly being supported." " |

I watched part of the video until the wind in the background finally became too much for me to listen to. Basically they were late on paychecks paying him and Hodge had had enough. Julius Hodge's refund to the Adelaide 36ers sees the case closed
ADELAIDE closed the book on the Julius Hodge pay dispute saga when the American swingman refunded between $25,000-$35,000 in advanced pay the club had forwarded him.
Sixers officials would not reveal the actual amount but Hodge returned to the U.S. with the international clearance the club was prepared to with-hold until he returned advanced monies.
The conditional clearance included a stipulation Hodge could not return to play in the NBL this season with any other clubs, formally ending erroneous but continuous speculation the Melbourne Tigers would make a late bid for his services.
The Tigers have staunchly refuted the claims which followed their decision to sign Canadian swingman Dave Thomas alongside Ebi Ere as their import tandem for the rest of the 2008-09 season.
Hodge returning money to the club to secure his release also flies in the face of claims he was owed pay and supports the contention of club owner Mal Hemmerling the American had been paid in advance before he decided to boycott the 36ers' 106-99 win over Wollongong 10 days ago.
Hodge's agent, Cervando Tejeda a day later demanded Adelaide release Hodge from his contract, alleging his client was missing payments. Hodge's contract with Adelaide did not include an NBA "out clause".
The bittersweet irony for the Sixers was that while Hodge was boarding a plane for the U.S. Friday, the NBL was naming him its Player of the Month for December.
Adelaide's Scott Ninnis completed a 36ers' sweep when he was named the Coach of the Month for December for his 4-2 record which included twin wins over Melbourne and also Townsville.
Replaced by athletic American forward Rod Grizzard who played his 50th NBL game and first with the 36ers in Cairns, Hodge averaged a league-high 27.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, six assists, two steals and 1.2 blocks in December.
"There was never any doubt Julius can play," 36ers operations manager Paul Bauer said. "'That was never the issue." Nor, as it seems, was missing money. 1/22/2009 12:23:47 PM |

Quote : | "The spectacular ANBL return of controversial American Julius Hodge has seen the newly-signed Melbourne Tigers guard win the player of the week award for Round Eight.
Hodge, whose last stint in the ANBL ended in an acrimonious split with former team Adelaide, was signed by the Tigers last week.
Despite having little time to learn his new club's offences, Hodge still managed to score 22 points and add nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals in his debut in Melbourne colours on Saturday night.
Hodge connected on 9-of-21 of his shots from the field and helped keep the Tigers in close contention with the visiting Townsville Crocodiles. Unfortunately his efforts still saw the Tigers fall short, with Melbourne losing to the Crocs, 98-91.
The flamboyant superstar said he was pleased with the award but focused on getting his team wins.
"I'm honoured to win the NBL Player of the Week," he said upon hearing the news of his award. "Hopefully this Saturday night the team and I can improve and get back on track with a win against the Taipans at The Cage."" |
