4 game wild card lead. this is why i laugh early in the season, like early may, when someone counts a team out. we've had the best record in baseball since june 1. We have the most runs scored in the majors. And if we have a lead in the 7th, the game is basically over with Joba for 2 and Mo for 1.

Yanks are going to win it all this year, as long as they can get by the angels.

Depends. If they run into a great pitching team, that lineup can be held down. The Angles are probably the worst matchup (both physically and mentally) for the Yankees, especially in a 5 game series, which is the most likely to happen given you will have the Wild Card.

The Indians would be the dream first round matchup for the Yankees, but that isn't going to happen.

Joba won't be able to go 2 innings 3 straight days (or even 2) in a short series.

4 back from the Red Sox in the AL East. Can they take over the lead?! 6 straight wins. Another sweep of the Sox and we're almost in business!

You may have already been taking a game off their division lead prematurely when you saw Boston losing 8-1 early last night, but unfortunately for you they came back to win 16-10. So you're still 5 games back.

You say that like sweeping a team is the easiest thing in the world, much less against the team with the best record in baseball, on their home field

I gotta give credit to the Yankees for the awesome baseball they have been playing since the All Star break. I saw them this past weekend in KC and they just straight pounded the shit out of the Royals. I'd be scared to face them in the playoffs.

^^ It's four back in the loss column, though. That's where it really counts. Yanks are four up in the wild card, but Detroit is five back in the loss column.

That said, I just hope we can keep playing solid ball. Let's up Moose turns in a solid outing tonight. Gotta keep racking up the wins -- whether the East or the wild card is a goal -- doesn't matter.

I'm well aware of that, I wasn't saying it like nothing. We just did it last month so its not like I'm wishing on a star...

And yeah I was referring to the loss column. I saw that comeback against TB, holy crap!

Boston's down 4-0 to TB, and the yanks are up 2-0. Keep it up!

(holy shit the home plate ump for the Yanks game is annoying, somebody take away his mic!!!)

^ Is that the 3rd night in a row, the Bleeding Pink Sox had to come back against the D-rays...in Boston?

Yeah, mighty force to be reckoned with all right. I'm sorry who's not 40-19 since the break? And who'll never win a MVP for being a lonely DH?

bye now bandwagon.

I love it Yankees fans like to assume that all Boston fans are bandwagon fans. Like the Yankees don't have bandwagon fans. Hell some of their fans like the Yankees because their favorite rapper sports a Yankee hat.

C'mon whatever, your 40-19 with a sweep against the Sox in the Bronx. A majority of your wins have come against sub .500 teams. You've played the Royals at least 12 times since the All Star break. Your starting pitching is still suspect and October hasn't come so ARod hasn't choked yet.

Well for some reason after how many years on here, I never put 2+2 together. My brother is a huge Mets fan too, and I totally get the same vibe from him.

You've got a whole lot more now according to USA Today brah, http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al/redsox/2007-08-22-Roadattendance_N.htm

And in my book, yes, most every single fan I see is. If it wasn't for 2004, tell me that the Red Sox would still be so popular. Shit, I can't even remember knowing 2 Sox fans prior to 2002.

^30 of our games since the break have been against Playoff bound/cusp teams. Check it:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/schedule?team=nyy

We've been 20-10 against them. And 20-9 vs. lower end teams. Thats not a clear mandate is it? (Unless you voted GWB 2x, then sure it is).

Sox have played TB 15 times since the break.

We'll see what happens in Boston. I'll be happy for 1 win, but a repeat of last year would be just fine.

I am going to NYC this weekend and I might try and catch the Friday, 9/21 game.

Any ideas on where to sit at? Are the bleachers pretty decent?

Those are around $20 each and the tier box seats (section 670) are $50. Also is it good to sit in the Bleacher Creature section? I think that might take away from the game a little.

Pretty excited. My first Yankee game, shoot my first major league game ever.

wow, my predictions were pretty close:

Quote :
"Igawa, i dont think will be very good.

Pavano, if he has a decent spring, will be pitching in somewhere like Seattle or Detroit.

Rotation as I see it:

Wang: Good for 15-18 wins, 3.80-4.00 ERA fine for that lineup
Pettitte: had a great second half, should win 16 games with the yanks this year
Moose: 13-15 wins, will likely have groin problems again. he's getting older
Pavano: If healthy he's a 12-14 win pitcher. However, expect this spot to be a mixture of young guys, Karstens, Rasner, Hughes, Sanchez
Igawa: an NL west pitcher. Will be in AAA by June. Big hole in the rotation.

1/18/2007 3:55:35 PM"

I was right about Wang. Pettitte has had a HUGE second half. Moose has 9 wins and has been injured. Pavano has not been healthy. Igawa was in AAA by June. And they had a mixture of young guys, Karstens, Rasner, Hughes, Kennedy and Joba.

The sox's are up only 2.5 games now. They have already announced that they were going to give some of their starters extra rest this week by going with wakefield and some rookies. I wonder if they will keep that plan and risk loosing the division title or will they keep their normal pitching rotation. Either way go Yankees!!

^^hahaha

this just goes to show how retarded baseball analysts are with their picks sometime...they might (in June) say "The Angels will win the West" and be correct, but with 100+ games to go they "Oh the Yankes have no shot at the division"

Hey I think everyone knows that the Redsox are way too good a team to keep losing....But my Yankees are in a strong position for the wildcard....and like I always said....it's all about the playoffs. If you make the playoffs you always have a chance. The Sox proved that in 2004 winning the whole thing from the W/C spot. It's going to be an interesting last couple of weeks.

Yes the Braves won 14 straight....but lets not forget......it was in the N.L., and when they won all those divisions they were at the time in the weakest div in the NL.....Plus how many world championships did they win in that 14 year span......ONE......keep that Braves Pussy shit out of the thread of the greatest team in all of sports.....The New York Yankees

What? In the late 90's the NL East was the strongest in baseball. The Expos were actually competitive, the Mets were winning 95+, the Phillies were around .500 and the Marlins were decent... The AL East sucked then. It was the Yankees and from time to time the Orioles/Red Sox making a small amount of noise...

For the first 3 years, there was no Central Division.

I think I'd take the Celtics (or maybe UCLA Men's Basketball) over the Yankees in terms of all-time sports franchises

But congrats on getting into the post-season, Yankees fans.

Wrong as NyM410 showed. Plus the Braves run started in the NL West and they held off teams like the Dodgers, Giants, Reds before moving onto the NL East after realignment.

Also I never claimed the Braves run was more successful than the Yankees 4 WS titles in that time frame. Of course anyone would take a wild card spot and WS championship over a divison title. I was just pointing out that there is atleast one team record the Yankees won't hold anytime soon.
