you can assume when a goalie goes down in that position the bottom of his pad is further back then the top of his pad, so that would entail the puck being in but since that is a judgement call by toronto, then it didn't work out for us, but yall complained last time when the puck was kicked in saying it wasn't a kicking motion when the guy turned his skate so the puck would hit it....im just saying

alright, i can agree with ya on lindy ruff complaining a little too much especially after game 2 that was uncalled for but he is longest tenured coach in hockey and he has produced good teams

"but god i hate lindy ruff. there is no way he could tell whether it was across the line or not from his point of view. but mark my words, he'll have sand in his vagina over this during the press conference and and probably use this as a crutch if they get eliminated...even though pretty much every other call has gone his way during the playoffs. if it wasn't for him, i'd like the sabres."

if it wasn't for him, danielle briere, and 3/4 of their fans, i'd like them too

turning your skate to deflect a puck is legal.

just because you're the longest tenured coach in the nhl doesn't mean much. paul maurice was for a while there. not saying he's a bad coach, but he definitely was not the best coach in the league during that time.

Erm, no, you can't. That goes double for Lundqvist, who is not only remarkably flexible, but wears pads with a +4" thigh rise so he doesn't have to bring his knees together when he goes into the butterfly, making it possible to to extend his ankles even with the plane of the thigh rise.

Some of the Finnish guys can do that, too, specifically Hannu Toivonen.

Lindy Ruff is a great coach. I hate the sabres and all but lets not be mistaking that. He might be annoying but to say he isn't a great coach is asinine with the production he's had.

Now that that's out of the way. WOW. I still think the Rangers are getting waxed at dirty dirty evil HSBC arena....but one can hope.

[Edited on May 1, 2007 at 11:50 PM. Reason : Go Rangers? God, I hate them too...lesser of evils.]

but wasn't the puck down by where the indent is in his pad, that would suggest the puck went into the indent when it was visible

yeah, but when you kick your toe, that flattens out significantly

especially on that model of pad

there is no video evidence to suggest that the entire puck crossed the entire line

the last frame where the puck is visible, it's on the line and lundy is throwing his pad forward at significant velocity

i'm willing to bet that we might get a better look tomorrow (like the goal in game 7 that got waved off, and then was shown in 20 minutes later) and it'll still be a good call

yeah, but you said "some calls go your way and some don't"

it was no goal on the ice

and the video shows no goal

it's not like a marginal hook that leads to a GWG in OT

I'm just glad a review finally went the Rangers way.

Though, of course, we're somehow going to get karma fucked for this

God damn if Selanne keeps up at this rate you won't even be able to recognize his face by the finals if they make it there.

it still could of been a goal, just because there isn't a camera angle that will give a clear picture of the puck, so some calls go you way and some don't if they called it a goal on the ice then i would of been upheld as a goal, but they didn't so thats why it wasn't a goal because you couldn't see the puck under is pad

he's done decent. i wouldn't call him a great coach though. during his tenure he's only had 2 division titles....his first year and this season. he's also finished in the basement of his division 3 times. if you look at his playoff consistancy, he's missed the playoffs just as many times (3) as he's gotten past the conference semifinals. no stanley cups. respectable, but to say he is "great" might be going a bit far. this is only his 9th season as a head coach. i'd give it a few more years (or stanley cups) before attempting to attach that label to him.

man that is so close..i think it really comes down to the fact that that sucker is so close you'd need a microscope to find its relation to the plane.

refs made the right move...

Evgeni Nabokov's response to Ken Baker when asked if he had any advice for a 30 year old goaltender attempting to make a comeback in pro hockey:

"Stop da puck."

I know I am a late responder on the whole"did it go in, did it not" issue, but the call they made had to be made, you couldn't tell at all and being from Buffalo we know how much it sucks to see a goal get called only to find out later it wasnt a goal (BrettHull)... So, they did what they had to do, it didnt matter how mnay times they watched it over and over, the technology and angle could not show a goal.

This brings me to my main point, several announcers, other refs, coaches and players have reacted to last nights call the same way: there first of all needs to be a standard set in each arena for the quaity of video and tele in the call booths and there is no reason not to have a micro-cam in the top of the net to take shots. If you can put a camera/video into a damn phone, or hell, into a human's vein, then they should be able to put on in the net.

They should take the cameras out of the hospitals in fact... because lets all admit, making the right call is totally more important than health, and I feel as though it would de-stress a lot of potential heart attack victims.

as a sabres fan i expected rangers to win games 3 and 4, they have been really hot. sabres will bounce back in game 5, and i believe they'll win a close 1 in game 6.

come on sens and wings tonight. not too sure about those pics though.

If the Sabs would have played the whole game with as much power as they did the last ten minutes they might have done better- insteqad it looked like they accidentally put on their mistress' g-strings.

i dunno, i find that to be kinda a dumb statement. of course they are gonna be fired up. the series is tied and they are going back to Buffalo where they can take a lead and potentially win it in 7 back at Buffalo (if NYR win at MSG).

You say "of course," but watch them come out flat and give up two quick ones.

If things always worked the way they should...well, the world would be a lot fuckin' different.

Forslund is doing the Ottawa/NJ game, his opening was "In Game 1, the Sens came out buzzing, in Game 2, NJ roared to a double overtime victory, and in Game 3...The Bump." LOL.

^^rangers have been dominating the game the last 3 games. i'm looking for game 5 to be a tipping point. how does being obvious (to you, or in general) make something dumb?

you're probably just bitter about the canes chances for a repeat though.
