^^ you could say those things about JJ Reddick too. Not that I think he will be as big a bust as JJ, but still.

I totally disagree. Now, the Bobcats HAVE to sign Gerald Wallace to a long-term deal. If not, the Bobcats will still be in the rut they have always been in, just with less cap space. (Oh yeah, the Cats are stuck with J-Rich for FOUR YEARS, guaranteed money.) I'm sorry, but I have to agree with S.A.S on this one.

^ yeah but at least we didnt draft Spencer Hawes

has the thought crossed anyones brain that the money owed to JRich is also great for matching salaries when making a blockbuster 3 team trade

perhaps?

Our cap situation will be fine, there are plenty of mid-high talent guys making 10 million a year in this league. This guy isnt some washed up garbage, he can play, and he is a character guy

I love how everyone bashes MJ for drafting BWright, when the whole time he had drafted him for GS. Then they kill on MJ for trading him for JRich.

I just dont get it, they had been saying for weeks they wanted to trade the pick for a veteran, and they did.

Give me a break

I was pissed as hell when we drafted B. Wright. I turned the draft and stop watching anything related to it. When I woke up this morning and heard the news, I became happy. JRich albeit not what I call a franchise guy, he can play and can score. He is a veteran and has character (from what I know). I like the move. All salaries are inflated in the NBA so I am not mad. Good move-Not great but it brings a player on the squad.

Franchise guys like Kobe and Kg are making 17 and 22 million

we got JRich for 10-12+ per year

and we can probably get Gforce back for that as well

Hey, I'm happy that the Kings got Spencer Hawes. We finally have a big man other than Brad Miller. Now, all they have to do is trade Artest.

good draft

we get a poor man's anorexic marvin williams and somehow convince the team that knocked the mavericks out of the playoffs last year to give up arguably their best scorer for him...awesome

alright, good deal last night all-around

now we've got the ball rolling, and making the richardson move, as has been stated, is not enough - we've got to get wallace and carroll signed, and i don't think the team should underestimate the importance of the latter

i don't think this was a free agent move just for the sake of making a move, of making a point that the ownership isn't afraid to spend money - richardson has plenty of good years left, and he fills that gaping hole at the 2

but now the precedent is set, spend the money to get (and keep) the guys you need

oh and

^ love it

^^ yes, i hated dudley in college because i hate BC. But i like his game and his assholeness on the floor (youve played enough ball with me to see some kind of similarity spero) plus he knows the game.

the Shane Battier comparison is accurate I believe

Carroll im sure we can resign, hes been around the league and we gave him his best shot

Wallace should see we made a move to win now, and come back to us

and as one columnist stated, if we lose Wallace, we should have no problems tyring to get Rashard Lewis

Battier was a MUCH better outside shooter coming out than Dudley. Dudley does have a decent midrange game, though. He is similar in being good in alot of areas and great in none.

anyone who isn't down with the J-Rich pickup must not have watched us last year when we struggled to fill the 2-guard role....

Morrison, Carroll and Felton/Wallace filled in alright at 2, but none were the pure 2 we needed to compete.

Felton, Richardson and Wallace running 1-3 will be a fun to watch next year. Sammy V has said we will be a defensive team and while I don't see Richardson as a defensive stopper, hopefully his presence will mean we will get out and run, run, run next year.

Now let's bolster the 4/5 spot through free agency and I'll be really pumped about the upcoming season.

What was the ending starting line-up last year? I did not get to watch much bball due to school, and anytime I attempted to watch the Bcats, we looked pretty ragged.

I am starting to look fwd to watching this team now. What is really likely to be done/who is out there to add some depth to the 4/5 position?

"The Charlotte Bobcats will waive veteran point guard Brevin Knight today in a move that will save the team about $2.5 million next season.

A source familiar with the situation told the Observer the Bobcats are exercising a buy-out clause in Knight's contract. The team will pay Knight about $1.5 million to avoid a salary in excess of $4 million that Knight would have received for the 2007-08 season.

It's unclear how the Bobcats will replace Knight as the backup to starting point guard Raymond Felton. The Bobcats did not get a point guard in Thursday's NBA draft

even though I'm not BK's biggest fan, I wonder what's going on here.

What if Felton gets hurt?

Is Jeff McGinnis really gone from this team b/c of Phil Ford?

Other than Chauncey and Mo Williams (who both seem to be leaning towards resigning with their team), there aren't really any free agent PG's out there.

Watch Jordan try to pick up Coby Karl to play backup PG.

For the record it is McInnis but anyway we don't really need him or Brevin Knight.

BK was too much of a defensive liability and a decent backup PG shouldn't be THAT hard to find.

he was always a pretty good midrange shooter and he seemed to see the floor well

however he was also the bobcats most likely to get a technical and get ejected so who knows

So correct me if I'm wrong about Wallace. Since the Bobcats have him right now (or since he has been with us the last few years) can't we sign him to a contract longer than any new team could? Somebody on the radio was saying earlier that if a team offered him $10mil/year and the Bobcats offered $9mil/year, we could still offer "an extra $18 million"...I think his math was off but I think he was saying if anothre team offered $10mil/year/6 years thats $60mil...but we could offer maybe $9/mil/year/8 years which would be $72 mil...and since contracts are guaranteed he might take that...am I sort of right or what?

For the record this was a great trade for the Bobcats.

Brandan Wright is at mininum at least 2 years away from even being able to post 10 ppg, 6 reb

Corey Brewer (who I loved a few weeks ago) projects to be a bust because he has no offensive game.

Al thorton is already 30 years old and he had one good season in FSU. He also can't guard anyone apparentally.

Noah cant score.

Hawes cant play period. He's the next white stiff.

We needed a fucking scorer and we got a young guy with great character who can be our #1 scoring option.

We essentially gave up nothing to get him.

We still have plenty of room to offer Wallace a ~10-11 million per year deal.

We couldn't wait another season to land someone, we wouldn't have cap room if we waited until after we signed Wallace and Okafor. This move HAD to be made, and it was a good one.

Anything is possible but it seems like every year theres a white stiff center (reeves, araujo, etc) that has good "moves" but he's not athletic enough to use these moves in the NBA.

NBA players who aren't athletic just have too many limitations and the risk is not worth the reward in my opinion.

There isnt a chance in hell that Jason Richardson won't be better than Spencer Hawes over the next 5 years.

oh yeah, not saying i'd take hawes over richardson, but i don't think he'll be a stiff either. duncan isn't terribly athletic compared to other PF/C's, but he's smart and uses the glass. i don't see why hawes can't do that

the guy could be a steal to get WITH JRich for just brandan wright

he could be a solid backup at the 4,5

we still have Primoz, Jake Voskuhl, and Ryan Hollins

no superstar in the list, but they can play good minutes behind Emeka

Davidson will spend most of this season in the NBDL probably.

Apparentally he's really athletic and a rebound/defender type player. Probably won't be able to contribute offensively at all but theres always room for energy/defensive big men on the bench.

We just need either Davidson or Hollins to develop enough to take Voskuhl's role when his contract expires next year.

haha i kinda laughed thinking about Voskuhl's "role".... which is basically fouling

He lit us up pretty good. He has to be close to 7-feet and has a decent outside shot from 10-15 feet.

I think he blocks shots and rebounds well enough to play over Voskuhl/Hollins now.

^^ I wonder if we plan on going into the season with just Felton/Anderson/Brown at PG?

That is a pretty terrible trio of point guards but honestly if saving money at PG will help us lock Wallace up to a long term deal then I'm all for it. We can always sign a backup PG when we're ready to think about contending. There's no reason to waste $6 million on a Earl Watson at this point.

^ I don't think he'll be ready to play over Voskuhl or Hollins quite yet. It'd probably be better for his development to spend a year in the D-league where he gets a lot of minutes and can focus on improving.

I'm not sure we're a playoff team yet but we definitely have a chance... We have a lot of expiring contracts this year so maybe we can pick up a few draft picks because we still desperately need a center.

Matt Carroll would be nice to have back but not for more than 4 years ~$12 million. He's replaceable and I'd like for us to be able to extend Hermann next year.
