10 pages wow

I don't know if anyone else even owns Chris Henry (WR-Cin), but I am tired of yahoo's little yellow icon saying there is news about him, only to find out it's about the Titans RB.

yeah, I cant believe hundreds of people are actually picking up the Bengals Chris Henry despite the fact that he will miss the first 8 games.

Hilarity.

for this thread already making 10 pages. At this pace, it will destroy my gem from last year!

So, I was just looking back at the thread from last year.

It reached 56 pages ( ) and by this time last year, we were only on pasge 6!

But anyway, it's so funny looking back and seeing the discussions about who to pick first last year...

Many people were saying how stupid it would be to take LT over Alexander or LJ becasue of the miraculous season Alexander had in 05. Just makes me wonder if S-jax could be the guy to make those who took "the obvious choice at #1" extremely angry.

It seems like the answer is maybe, but probably not...but then again, if you look back at last years thread, at least half of the posters were saying otherwise.

^^^yeah, it's really funny that people are picking up someone who will put up points/game similar to the Chambers/Clayton/Cotchery/VJax/DJax/Braylon tier...for the second half of the season, for FREE

HILARITY!

I just think he's a good pickup if you have a deep bench

i'll keep edge now (playing opposite Steven Jackson, with Jamal Lewis on the Bench)

I'll wait for that big injury to hit one of the leading RB's, and snatch up that backup as soon as the RB goes down...

^^Hey, if thats the route that you think is best, go for it.

Keep in mind that Henry has been able to practice and play in preseason games with the Bengals, but once the season starts, he wont be able to have any interaction with the team on any level. So while he is suspended for only 8 weeks, it will be more week 10-11 before you start to see any type of production out of him.

Mix that with the fact that most fantasy football seasons either go 15 or 16 weeks, you are essentially losing a bench spot for the majority of the FF year for someone who will not be at game speed and will be the #3 WR on a team full of weapons and serviceable for only ~5 weeks of the fantasy season.

Just seems a little much IMO and not worth the depth that will be essential in the bye week period.

^depends on your scoring system...he wont return 6 for TDs this year but i can see him returning 3 or 4

i'd want santonio holmes over hester...might run back a couple kicks for TDs but should be much more of a WR threat for Pitt than Hester for CHI

^^^^probably a good idea since you have J-Lew, he is a solid #3. Sure he can't do anything but run straight forward, but Cleveland will have better QB play (Frye and/or Quinn will be better than Frye last year), a better line, and a better defense, and he is all they have.

^^^Yeah, I see your point, our bench is moderately deep though with 6 spots, also we play all 17 weeks I believe (no playoffs). He is my 7th WR/TE (we start 2 WR, 1 W/T, 1 TE), I could pick up a 5th RB, 3rd QB, or backup D..but there really isn't anyone out there I could see myself starting in those first 9-10 weeks anyway.

Hester could be useful in 12 man leagues or deeper where you get points for return TD's as well. Its still up in the air as to how much and in what capacity the Bears will use Hester on offense, as well as the QB situation.

He has already been used on crossing routes and bubble screens, but his real value is in the return game. I'd wait to see before I pick him up. He suffered a little injury the other day and will be fine, but you have to think that ultimately, the bears will want to keep him healthy and continue to have that edge over everyone else in Special Teams, which basically means that I dont seem him being very productive as a WR.

He is no where near the area of a Santonio Holmes, so if Holmes is available, pick him up immediately!

well, the most current ADP (Average Draft Position) from a few different sites have Berrian taken in the middle of the 9th rd and Jennings, Hackett and Santonio being taken in the 10th (in that order).

I dont think I would make that trade proposal yet, as such a huge part of the Bears offense is the deep ball to Berrian. All signs so far, in camp and preseason practices and games, show Berrian really increasing his role and becoming more than just the deep threat. He is now the bonafide #1 WR in Chicago, whereas those other options are all #2's.

Berrian has the potential to be a sleeper FF #2 WR this year, but right now he is a nice #3. Hold on to him.

Berrian in the 13th!

What a steal!

ADP's of WR's in the 13th (in a 10 man league like ^) include:

Isaac Bruce, Brandon Marshall, Anthony Gonzalez, and Mike Furrey...

Terry Glenn is still available in my league but I think I'm already solid enough at WR

also the guy who accidentally set his top 200 picks on his EXCLUDE list hasnt scoured the waiver wire...I'm kinda leaving T Glenn for him out of pity

v luckily for him this particular league isnt a money league

CBS Sportsline has a league where you can pay 500 for a team and the winner gets 3500.

May end up joining it, the rest of my teams are only for 50-100, I'd like one that I could really get into.

not really, 10 teams so 5000 dollars total and they give back 4950 in prize money.

Just signed up for a team, got the draft at 11.30 tomorrow, talked the guy in the office next to me into joining too.

i'm surprised. i heard the cbs leagues were a real ripoff, that the winner is the only one who got money and so they basically pocket 1500-2000 bucks.

cbs pockets a good chunk. Only 1st place gets a prize. But that should be the case any ways. You don't get a second place prize for losing in the super bowl.

I finished my first IDP league draft. I had 6th pick out of 14 teams.

Offense
McNabb (QB)
Frank Gore (RB)
Steve Smith (WR)
Ahman Green (Flex - RB)
Jamal Lewis (Flex - RB)
Lee Evans (Flex - WR)
Matt Stover (K)

Defense
DeMeco Ryans (LB)
Karlos Dansby (Flex - LB)
E.J. Henderson (Flex - LB)
Kamerion Wimbley (Flex - LB)
Champ Bailey (DB)
Chris McAlister (DB)
Asante Samuel (DB)

Bench
Chad Pennington (QB)
Chris Henry (RB)
Marcel Shipp (RB)
Vincent Jackson (WR)
Matt Jones (WR)
Ashley Lelie (WR)
Reggie Williams (WR)
Matt Jones (WR)
Chris Cooley (TE)
Jeremy Shockey (TE)
Ahmad Brooks (LB)
Chris Draft (LB)
Lawrence Timmons (LB)
Will Demps (DB)
Renaldo Hill (DB)
LaRon Landry (DB)
Julius Peppers (DL)

I'm happy with my offense picks. I wasn't very familiar with a lot of the defensive players and I'll have to wait and see how well my defensive draft went.

What does everyone think about Vincent Jackson this season? Is he going to break out?

Hey guys, I have the last pick in my next fantasy draft. Should I get two good-great RBs out of the gate (i.e Westbrook and Parker) or should I go RB-WR (i.e. Westbrook/Parker and Harrison)?

I offered this trade up last night in my league. I doubt the guy will bite, but I'm trying to upgrade at my #2 RB spot.

I give up McGahee, Cotchery, and Julius Jones and he gives up Addai and Vincent Jackson. I have my doubts about both McGahee and J-Co and I'm think that VJ could be a 10 TD guy this year. I threw Jones in there for the hell of it because I don't plan on playing him other than a bye week fill in.

need some advice.. in a league from last year, 2 keepers which for me were Ronnie Brown and Brian Westbrook. Kind of hard to get a time whenever could draft so we did autodraft(which i despise). Ended up with Grossman and Pennington as my only 2 QBs(we play 2QBs) and it drafted 6 running backs for my team along with Brown and Westbrook. I have Cedric Benson, Chester Taylor, Marshawn Lynch, Ladell Betts, Deshaun Foster, and Brandon Jackson. Who should I try to trade/hang on to and what QB's do you think I should go after. My likely trade partner would be a team with only Willie Parker, Travis Henry and Ron Dayne but their QB's are Romo, Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, and Leinart. We play 2 QB's and 2 RB's. Let me know what you guys think.

Third Team:

QB: D. Brees (NO)
WR: M. Colston (NO)
WR: C. Johnson (DET)
WR: T. Glenn (DAL)
RB: R. Johnson (CIN)
RB: W. Parker (PIT)
TE: J. Witten (DAL)
BN: P. Rivers (QB-SD)
BN: A. Gonzalez (WR-IND)
BN: F. Taylor (RB-JAC)
BN: J. Jones (RB-DAL)
BN: H. Miller (TE-PIT)

pretty good squad...i was avoiding Colston myself just because one of the reasons he was such a good fantasy player last year is because he was a WR who Yahoo! allowed to play the TE position...this year he doesnt have TE eligibility

^^ Ya good team. You got good depth at RB. You are banking on the QB/WR combo but you have Rivers too so you should be good.

I am not sold on Colston this year as well. For some reason I have a feeling he will get alot more double coverage this year and that may help Brees in some ways but may also hurt you because if Brees doesn't produce with Colston, you lose double points from two players.

Autodrafts suck. I think you should try to do a 3 for 2 trade and get Leinhart or Romo if you can....maybe trade Pennington ,cause his off. line looked horrible the other day, and it worries me since I have Cotchery. Add Benson and another RB and try to get Travis Henry.

Both Romo and Leinhart are going to pass like crazy this year, Ben is still on a running team, even with a new coach, and Eli Manning I am not sold on, especially without Tiki. You got a lot of depth at RB and won't need that many. So give up more but strengthen it with a better RB. You can try for Parker but I don't think the guy will bite on that trade, unless you use it as a preliminary offer and counter with the above.

i have no idea on how to set up my picks for my league's autodraft with yahoo (work's idea, not mine)

on one hand, i know who i want and can set them as my priority. but then i don't want to get stuck picking the baltimore defense too high and miss out somewhere else or vice versa. anyone got any pointers? i hate the lack of control

i dont understand why in the hell anybody would ever do an auto-draft

if you can't meet up for a live draft, just do an online live draft

that way if you are logged into yahoo, you can draft live and select your picks

the computer will autodraft only for the people who cant make it

yeah but i'm not running it and, as far as i can tell, there's no way for it to stop on my turns if i'm here so i can make my personal decisions as i see fit

it's like full blast auto for the league and the draft happens "sometime" tomorrow

it truly seems "luck of the draw" and that discourages me

one of my drafts was going to be like that but i simply explained to the commish that a live online draft would autodraft for people who couldnt make it, but allow people who could make it the ability to pick their choice of players

if this is a public league or you dont have a way to get in contact with the commish it might be more difficult...but if you can get in touch with him tell him to change it cause fully automated drafts are stupid

especially if its a money league

well its not really good for people who can't make it if there's a subjective element involved. people who are absent are just getting players based on rankings, they can't make on the fly decisions. all or nothing IMO

POP QUIZ!

Who is the most expendable of this group of backup Running Backs. This is my fifth league and I dont care to much about it, but if I make this move a good one, I could really increase my chances of winning it.

My Starters
Addai
McGahee

My Bench
Duece
Portis
Deshaun

Still on Waivers (But I have no fucking clue why)
Fred Taylor (He was just dropped for some reason)
Lamont Jordan

Are either of those guys on free agency worth dropping one of my bench spots for?

Just so you know, Duece and Portis have a bye week of 4, Deshaun's is 7, and Taylor also has 4 and Jordan has 5.

I'm almost positive I know what I want to do, but let's see if we have any "Guru's in training"

yes, but you can set it to do otherwise.

Just take out all of the kickers and Defenses from your list and move them to the exclude list.

Damn, that's a really tough question.

I think if you were going to do anything, you were going to get rid of Deshaun Foster or Clinton Portis because of their tendency to get hurt. You would probably pick up Fred Taylor because Jacksonville has a really good run offense. Lamont Jordan wouldn't be bad b/c he starts, but his production would be low b/c he plays for Oakland and D. Rhodes will be coming back from his suspension after four games.

I'm probably wrong. I'm usually wrong in stuff like this.

it really doesnt matter what you do because your bye weeks for addai and mcgahee are weeks 6 and 8 so that doesnt even conflict with your other players at all... also if i was to pick up one of those two i would get jordan in case the raiders do something right this year. and also i would keep portis because this is going to be his last year if he doesnt play well and that will be motivation for him to try harder.
