OMFGGGGJKDFLA;'FASDFAS

BICYCLE KICK IN INJURY TIME TO TIE IT

holy shit, what a thrilling goal there. i hope you guys are still watching this thing. the galaxy has been a whole different team in the 2nd half..sad for joe cannon that pachucas only goal was an own goal, cause his performance alone should be a win for the galaxy. hopefuly the extra time will decide a winner and not go to PK's(which i assume is the ultimate way this tournament is ruled to end)

for page 10, extra time will be starting soon, if anyone is online who doesnt know about this game, you should watch the rest of it...as long as teams dont gay out, usually extra time is good for a lot of wide open space and great offensive chances

Quote :
"LOS ANGELES - David Beckham could miss the rest of the Los Angeles Galaxy's season after being diagnosed with a sprained right knee Thursday.

The English midfielder underwent an MRI exam that confirmed he sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee, the team said in a statement.

Beckham, 32, was injured in a tackle with Pachuca midfielder Fernando Salazar in the first half of Wednesday night's SuperLiga title match. The Galaxy lost 4-3 on penalty kicks.

He was expected to be out about six weeks, and will immediately begin rehabilitation, the team said.

That would place his return at mid-October, when the Galaxy would have three regular-season games remaining — against Toronto FC on Oct. 13, New York on Oct. 18 and at Chicago on Oct. 21.

"It's just gone from one thing to another thing," Beckham said Wednesday night. "Maybe it's time for me to just say, 'I need the rest,' and get it right and don't come back until it's right."

He had already been nursing a left ankle injury that caused him to miss seven games since joining the team July 13. That injury occurred while playing for England on June 6.

Beckham's extended absence deals a serious blow to the already slim chance the Galaxy had of making the playoffs. Its Major League Soccer record is 3-10-5 — last in the Western Conference.

"The biggest thing is that we're markedly better when he's on the field," Chris Klein said after Wednesday's loss. "Just having his presence around the guys gives us a much needed boost. When he's not there, it hurts us."

The Galaxy declined to make any team officials available for comment Thursday.

Coach Frank Yallop was clearly frustrated about the string of injuries that has devastated his team this season, especially the ones involving Beckham.

"He shouldn't play, to be honest. He's hurt, but he's playing," Yallop said Wednesday night. "That shows the character of him and it shows the character of the team because he lifts the team when he plays.

"It's hard because he's struggling with injury. He's trying his best."

Beckham's latest injury also means he won't be joining England's national team. He had planned to fly to London on Sunday for 10 days with the team as it prepares to play Israel and Russia in two Euro 2008 qualifying games.

"

Good riddance. Hopefully by the start of the next MLS season, whenever the hell that might be, people will forget about this and Amercan soccer can just back to where it belongs. A nitch spots that the overwhelming majority of America could care lessa bout. This is just another failure in the long line of dissapointments in the American soccer life.

^ seriously just shut the fuck up

Lots of people care about it, just because you can't stop sniffing your own dingleberries and realize that soccer has been growing in the US for a long time now and is continually getting better doesn't mean we have to listen to you spit them out of your mouth as you talk nonsense. thx.

I think soccer might have a better (not great, but better) chance of catching on in the US if it were structured a little more traditionally...what I mean is, when I think of the MLS, I naturally think of a league similar to NFL, NHL, NBA, etc where there are a set number of teams, they play a certain number of regular season games, top teams make playoffs, etc. Then I hear things about Beckham playing in other tournaments...Copa de Whatever...how many tourneys are there? Its not that easy for the average person to follow how soccer is scheduled

i tend to agree there and i try to follow soccer myself

if it were like college basketball where theres like one or two tourneys outside of the regular season that would be better i think

on the same page though, it's definitely (in my opinion) worth sacrificing however many fans it takes to not americanize and bastardize the game.

im with ^, personally id rather see a league system like england's where there is promotion and relegation, and the season is played 100% to win the championship, not like in american sports where you can play about 75% of the season to make the playoffs, then get hot in the playoffs and win...that to me doesnt show me the best team won. the best team in european leagues always wins because they have to be the best the whole season
