They did develop Jan and Michael's relationship quite well and brought up a bunch of problems that could be addressed in later episodes. They also referenced The Deposition lawsuit and various other episodes. I think part of the problem with the writing is it's meant to be linear and not interupted by commercials. I always enjoy watching the episodes more when there's no commercial breaks. I think after i watch this one again later tonight it'll flow a little better. It did seem like it pushed the limit a little bit, but there were some good moments and i wouldn't call it that bad an episode.

^i laughed and i enjoyed it. I will say it wasn't the best, and it did try to make the whole Jan and Michael thing a little too awkard, but in the end i don't think it was that bad an episode and it provided some much needed character development in regard to Michael and Jan living together in the condo. If you remember the only other reference was at the beginning of Fun Run when Michael shows Jan passed out in his bed.

This episode was written before the strike.

I thought it was hilarious. Lots of nice references to earlier eps and plenty of details for later episodes.

I laughed my ass off. There are a ton of subtle jokes that make this one good.

^^^Yeah just watched it again. Hilarious. I guess i'm a big fan of the Michael/Jan relationship. They are so messed up. I caught a bunch of things after watching it again. Plus Jan having a line of candles called "serenity by Jan" is just hilarious. Although i think they stole the font from the movie "Serenity", or maybe that was originally intended.

The interchange between Michael and the group while playing charades was hilarious. Jim doing his usually Michael confusion, and also when Jim tried to leave, but Pam convinced him to stay. That was great.

there were definitely a few funny parts, but i wouldnt say anything warranted describing it 'hilarious'. and im definitely a HUGE fan.

i can appreciate the fact that in order to keep the show going, they need to have some stuff take place out of the office more often. but they just arent carrying it very well.

When I said that I wanted to have kids, and you said you wanted me to have a vasectomy what did I do?

and then when you said that you might want to have kids and i wasn't so sure who had the vasectomy first!

and then when you said you definitely didn't want to have kids, it reveresed back, snip snap, snip snap, snip snap, I DID!

you have no idea the physical toll three vasectomies have on a person!!

I thought that part was funny.

I seriously don't understand all the complaints.
In terms of JPM (Jokes Per Minute, Demetri Martin) it was pretty high even for the Office.

The neon light, Hunter's CD, Dwight's date...

thats not necessarily a good thing. quality > quantity. there were some funny parts, but within an otherwise disappointing episode its harder to find them as funny as they might be.

I thought it was a pretty good episode, Pam making Jim stay and then Jim later stealing Hunter's CD absolutely made it for me.

I assumed they were looking directly into the cameras because A Michael had invited them because he likes attention and B they were hoping that the cameras were documenting just how fucked up the night was.

I enjoyed it, my fav parts where

the 3 vasectomies
Jim playing the guessing game (TOM CRUISE!)
The moment when Jim debated leaving Pam behind and instantly decided to save his own ass
Angela and the ice cream

^ those were my favorite parts too, and I also thought it was funny when Michael was hanging outside of Dwight's car while Hunter's music was playing. It didn't have the one-liners that many episodes have, but it was still a pretty solid episode. The only reason I was a little disappointed was because the writers said how this would be one of the funniest episodes ever.

my favorite part of the guessing-game was that Angela was actually trying to play (unlike Jim), but even those clues weren't good enough for her. It just shows how out of touch with pop/modern-culture that she is.

Michael: "first name Tom. He's going on a Cruise"
Angela - no idea

michael - "he was the terminator. He's the governor of California"
angela - "that's not helping!"

The episode certainly was successful in making the viewer feel as uncomfortable as the dinner guests, which I took as the point.

It wasn't the funniest episode ever, but solid.

I did laugh at the plasma tv, and how they pan over and it is just a tiny ass tv on the huge wall.

Sometimes I just stand here for hours watching. I dunno, that was good stuff imo.

The shit ass candle stand the he made was funny as well.

Not as good as I was hoping, but not terrible. I think the hype built it up too much...its just a regular episode people. I guess people were hoping/thinking the writers had been working on this one episode since the show stopped, which is not the case I'm assuming

I didn't think it was an awful episode, but the funniest stuff on the show didn't get more than a good chuckle from me...kind of gave me the feeling, "Yeah that was a funny idea, but not good enough for a LOL"

there have been a handful of very average episodes and this one falls in that category. If nothing else, it was funny seeing michael and jan on their home turf.

oh, the jan warhol print was pretty fucking funny. I thought the overall decorating was pretty hilarious as well. I know a few people whose places look like pier 1 catalogs

Michael's bed was pretty funny.

Often with the office i enjoy watching it, but find it funnier talking about it afterward then watching it again.

the plasma tv was really funny "ill stand here for hours watching tv"
"thats a 200 plasma TV...how are you going to pay me back with your 0 income and 0 benefits"

loved Hunter's CD titled " The Hunter" hahah

overall i say it was decent...not the best but sober said it best. i had rather watch a decent ep. of the office than most anything else on TV

It was good, but the biggest problem was the rest of the cast missing for most of the episode. The rest of the ensemble really makes it for me.

yeah, i was going to guess The Hunted, because you get the feeling that he was being hunted by Jan, not the other way around.
