i have both and i'm not trading either (lee and volquez)
i hope none of you nuts dropped isringhausen...he just came in and got the three outs in the 9th inning. it looks like he's getting his confidence back.

I've been offered Aaron Harang for Fausto Carmona......should I consider this?
Fausto walks a bunch and Harang has a way better K:BB ratio and surely the Reds will help him out more. 5/15/2008 1:38:07 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148438 Posts user info edit post |
my take:
they're both good pitchers...Harang is more of a strikeout pitcher, but Fausto has a wicked sinker and a great ground ball percentage that leads to easy outs
Harang pitches to weaker competition (slightly) in the NL, also he pitches to other pitchers (no DH), which is a plus for Harang...however Fausto is more likely to get you an extra inning or two, since the Tribe never has to worry about pinch hitting, again since they're in the AL
what it boils down to is who you think will have better bat support and a better bullpen to support them...I think Cleveland's bats will come around better than Cincy, but who knows
I wouldn't veto the trade if it was in my league because it seems fair 5/15/2008 1:43:06 PM |

Cleveland's bats may be better but their bullpen right now is horrendous....that is what I was looking at. 5/15/2008 1:44:43 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148438 Posts user info edit post |
yeah Borowski led the league in saves last year just because their bats were so good...his ERA and WHIP sucked...I definitely like Fran Cordero for Cincy better even though he blew his first save last night
Rafael Betancourt is a beast for Cleveland though 5/15/2008 1:46:25 PM |

this might be the most dirt trade i've ever seen:
joe saunders (6 wins and sub-3 ERA, george sherrill (8 saves) and cj wilson (15 saves) for clay bucholz (DL) and matt cain (2 wins and 4+ ERA). seriously?? what the fuck 5/15/2008 10:45:44 PM |
packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
Umm I am guessing no league veto?
That is bad, but in the long run Cain>Saunders because I don't think Saunders keeps his current pace.

Another hitter who is raking it right now is Dan Uggla. Only Utley and Berkman have hit more homers in the past month and Berkman is the only guy slugging at a higher percentage in that same span. 5/16/2008 11:29:03 PM |

Berkmans homers again
on a related note....Alfonso Soriano has been the hottest hitter in baseball for the last week
he's had at least two hits in his last 8 games that he started and was 5 for 5 today
he's got 7 homers in his last 6 games 5/17/2008 9:29:45 PM |

even though neither of them are starting today, i have to play 1 in my lineup...Josh Hamilton or Carlos Gomez...I'm thinking about Gomez because I'm up by 2 HRs and tied in steals...I'm also tied in runs and way up in RBIs 5/18/2008 2:13:40 PM |

Is Gary Sheffield worth holding on to?
My bench is deep already (I have Hunter and Kemp on my bench) and I just can't see him outproducing either of those guys. I need pitching help so I want to dump him but I'm afraid he will go on a tear for someone else right after I do. Pitchers I want to pick up are Kershaw or Bonderman who was dropped earlier today. 5/18/2008 10:20:00 PM |

lol
Pence is a good young player, he can steal bases and hit for power
but god damn he annoys me...did you see him running in after he made a great catch a couple days ago? I mean it was a great catch but when he ran back in he just looked like a douche...reminds me of Paulus or Redick or Wes Millar or somebody like that 5/19/2008 6:25:44 PM |

for those of you who are getting ready to take A-Rod off your disabled list and activate him for tomorrow's game versus the Orioles, you might want to consider adding Pedro Martinez to your now available DL spot (that is of course if he's not already on somebody else's DL)...he is supposed to be back in another ~2 weeks and supposedly he's feeling fine...he's getting up there in age, but he was pretty solid for the last ~month or so last year when he pitched...and if he gets injured again...well oh well thats how it goes 5/19/2008 7:40:06 PM |
