OK, finally got this for Christmas. Yes. I am addicted.

Haven't played online yet, but I think I'll give that a try in the next day or so. Oh and I def. play better with the nunchuck combo. I tried the wheel and was all over the damn road.

some random questions, my girlfriend just got this game for her wii and i've been playing recently.

1. how do you start so fast at the start of the race?
2. is there anyway to avoid things like the bomb dropped on you or lightning bolts?
3. how do you unlock all the characters/levels?

1) Gotta time pressing the gas just right when the light turns green.
2) No. Not that I know of.
3) Complete the cups in grand prix mode. Some of them require that you get gold to move forward.

^i dont know about some of those:

1. press gas right after the countdown hits "2".
2. i dont know about avoiding bombs and bolts but you can avoid the pow block by shaking the wiimote right before the "pow" happens.
3. what ^ said, but you can also unlock things through online play and time trials.

^ you're probably right. I haven't actually been able to get the fast start yet, just going by what it said in the manual.

I press the gas just as the "2" starts to fade to get the boost.
In the (unlikely) event you have mushroom you can dodge spiked shells by using it right before it fires straight down to hit you.

The starting line power boost works best if you hit the gas right when the cloud man's hand is at the 11 position (on a clock) when he's on the number 2.

Does anyone know if you unlock anything by getting a triple star rating for every single cup? I've only got about 9 cups left before they're all taken care of.

On an unrelated note, I was playing online the other day in a good group of 10 people (1 person near my level, somewhere in the 9,000 range, and a bunch of people in the 6-7000 range). I was racking up points, but then a friend called and I didn't pay attention and I was booted out of the group and lost 250 points. FUCK!

^I bet i was in that game. Was it around 7 or 8 last night? I played for a long time. At one point there where 3 people with three stars and everyone else was around 6-7k. Every race was pure chaos.

^nah sorry man, it was on Sunday. After I was kicked off I got back online in a SHITTY group which I should have left but didn't. Somehow we kept doing the same fucking race (Moo Moo farm, or whatever the fuck it is). If you have a high ranking you get hosed (from a statistics point of view) on the simple tracks. Too much luck involved. Like me being in 1st place and getting blasted by a blue right before the finish at the end and coming in 2nd to last place (and then losing 200 pts as a result).

I was fucking pissed. Between my own gaff and that BS I dropped down from 9200 when i started to 8900 when I finished (despite my wins). UGH.
