That is ridiculous.

the last thing we need is some dogmatic jesus wanna-be declaring that the war in iraq and her actions as VP is god's will. By 2010 she'll be calling the crusades to sterlize Iran from the heathen muslims in order to colonize New Peria for good Christian followers.
By the way surely god wanted G.I. Joe to be firing his gun and blowing up bombs that all to many times have hit civilians in Iraq. Never mind i forgot. since they are not christian they deserved to did and will likely go to hell for not accepting jesus christ as their savior.

The media never talked about the 17 year old daughter until the McCain camp released that information. It was the bloggers who were talking about it. As someone who watches the 24 hour news stations and reads a wide variety of online sources, the mainstream media never mentioned the Bristol story.
furthermore, just because so-and-so says something is off limits does not and should not stop the media from determining what they will report on. 9/3/2008 1:00:36 PM |

I think it's already been discussed that the whole 17 year old pregnancy thing has more to do with abstinence-only sex education than with moral character. Most people don't give a fuck whether the girl is pregnant or not but it does relate to policy in the sense that Palin can't even get abstinence to work in her own household, much less a country. 9/3/2008 1:08:23 PM |
csharp_live Suspended 829 Posts user info edit post |
and that's why so many voters will relate to her.
with a culture that influences young people to have sex, and that porn is cool, and whores are accepted, i'm guessing a huge portion of american homes will perfectly relate to her AND how she is properly handling the situation
i think its great. 9/3/2008 1:14:27 PM |

Yeah, except for the fact that she did the only thing that abstinence-only sex education told her not to do.
I don't give a fuck if she's pregnant with a black midget's kid. It is, however, very hypocritical and the policy that was supposed to prevent this should be placed under review. 9/3/2008 1:17:36 PM |

^^which is exactly why you represent a tiny <1% of the opinion of the nation.
democrats can't handle mistakes, let alone of children. it's one thing for the leader of the free world to be getting blow and hand jobs in the oval office daily while he has a kid and a wife and a nation to take care of.
it's quite another for a young woman to fall in love and get pregnant. hell, the boy has even pledged to help father the child.
this has happened since the beginning of humans. even if her daughter fails, the other 100 women that didn't get pregnant b/c of this education makes it worth it.

Meg Whitman doesn't get Walnuts campaign memo on Sarah Palin

I think secretly McCain wants to throw the election. This way he doesn't have to spend his last years stressing over issues of priority faced as president. Rather than quitting and pissing off his GOP buddies; instead he chooses Gov. Palin! Not only does she alienate McCain's libertarian/moderate/ and non-christian voters; but it also potentially pisses off some of the diehard lower class ignorant conservatives who believe women should have no role as president or VP.
As an added bonus he does appease the christian rigth, earning some of their support. When before he had very little from this group 9/3/2008 3:58:58 PM |

Wait, since when is VP the highest office in the land? I know I know, we're all afraid that McCain is going to croak from the stress of swearing himself into office, but she still isn't running for the highest office in the land, unless I missed something.

Or (as long as we're scheming) they knew there were family issues, and chose her for this exact reason. Unlike most politician issues you could find, most of her issues are ones that common america can relate too, and as Bush showed us in 2 elections, you shouldn't count out the power of appearing to be "just like us" can do for your popularity.
In addition, they probably counted on this being outed by the blogger world. The derogatory description of "howling moonbats" is there for a reason, and it's because the most vocal minority of the people who commonly vote and support democrat really are howling moonbats. It was hoped that the bloggers and then media would latch onto these stories because it detracts not only from larger issues at hand, but really brings out the negative side of the obama fever that has built up in this country. The Hilary v. Obama battles were vicious and was a lot like watching two hungry stray dogs fight over meat, and towards the end, a lot of middle america was getting kind of sick of it. Both the Hillary warriors and the Obama crusaders were out for blood though, and the resolution is certainly an uneasy truce at best, so what better way to take advantage of still rabid emotions than an easy target with a juicy but very delicate skeleton in her closet.
When you really think about it, it's almost brilliant. You had the DNC and a chance for Obama to whip up some frenzy with some well placed speeches, and instead what you have is a spotlight on an issue that has a lot of potential to damage Obama's position, and doesn't do much damage to McCain since most people don't have him as the favorite to win. What should have been a week of fawning over how well Obama has united two vehemently opposed factions under the flag of Hope and Change™ has now become a week of the media tearing into a 17 year old girl and her boyfriend. And when Mr. Hope and Change™ himself tries to call off the attack dogs, their true colors show and they essentially tell him to go fuck himself, and he's stuck looking like a leader who can't even bring Hope and Change™ to the campaign process never mind the country as a whole.
Whether it will be enough for McCain is tough to see. I don't seem him riding this wave to november, but it may damage Obama enough to give him a better chance. Of course, it can all backfire on him too, but then he's really no worse than he was before, as we are constantly reminded, 2nd place doesn't count for anything in the elections anymore.

I think teaching abstinence, safe sex or anything of that matter should be left to the parents. Same approach for drug use. It's not the government's responsibility (some people think it should be though) to teach little brats what's bad for them. Who gives a rat's ass? The less money that's wasted on retarded D.A.R.E, abstinence and free condoms the better I think. Kids are gonna screw and do drugs, so let them.

Have we discussed Palin's crazy pastor yet?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/palins-church-may-have-sh_n_123205.html
Quote : | "As for his former congregant and current vice presidential candidate, Kalnins has asserted that Palin's election as governor was the result of a "prophetic call" by another pastor at the church who prayed for her victory. "[He made] a prophetic declaration and then unfolds the kingdom of God, you know."...
He preaches repeatedly about the "end times" or "last days," an apocalyptic prophesy held by a small but vocal group of Christian leaders. During his appearance with Palin in June, he declared, "I believe Alaska is one of the refuge states in the last days, and hundreds of thousands of people are going to come to the state to seek refuge and the church has to be ready to minister to them."
He also claims to have received direct "words of knowledge" from God, providing him information about past events in other people's lives. During one sermon, he described being paired with a complete stranger during a golf outing. "I said, I'm a minister from Alaska and I want you to know that your wife left you -- you know that your wife left you and that the Lord is gonna defend you in a very short time, and it wasn't your fault. And the man drops his clubs, he literally was about to tee off and he dropped his clubs, and he says, 'Who the blank are you?' And I says, 'well, I'm a minister.' He says, 'how do you know about my life? What do you know?' And I started giving him more of the word of knowledge to his life and he was freaked out."" |
Not to mention that he apparently said "I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person, I question your salvation. I'm sorry," obviously referring to Kerry in 2004. If some of you Republicans are going to make Wright such a big deal, look into this guy too. I guess it makes sense that she comes from a crazy conservative church with a similarly super-right pastor. I wonder why that's considered more "normal" than Wright.
