if you watched the Bengals play a couple years ago when they had one of the top offenses in the league, you too would have regarded Palmer as the 3rd best QB in the game, but you dont really follow sports much i guess4/24/2009 2:43:57 PM |

Quote : | "In 2005, Palmer's breakout season, Palmer led the Bengals to an 11–5 record and an AFC North division title, their first division title since 1990. In doing so, Carson Palmer became the first Bengals quarterback to finish with a 100+ passer rating, tied then Indianapolis' Peyton Manning for most consecutive games with a triple-digit passer rating (9 games), led the NFL in completion percentage, and set a Bengals franchise record by throwing a league-leading 32 touchdown passes. He also set the franchise record for highest passer rating in a season. His 3,836 yards was 4th in the league." |
dnl is right, he sucked that year! he only led the NFL in touchdown passes but he wasn't even a top 3 QB
^yes, and also TJ Housh and Chris Henry...i was asking DNL though, i doubt he knew

so the fact that Palmer led the NFL in passing touchdowns a few years ago makes you think only idiots regarded him as a top 3 QB that year...but when his numbers decline because of severe knee injuries, that somehow takes away from his multiple pro bowl appearances? 4/24/2009 2:57:17 PM |

TEAMS win games not players. If they had any other QB behind center they might have won 2 games if they were lucky. That defense was TERRIBLE. 4-5 times were they leading or tied in the final minutes only to have the defense turn into wet toliet paper.
I mean I guess he could have manned up and played some LB or safety] 4/24/2009 3:31:56 PM |

teams win games, not players
except that logic doesnt apply to jake and the panthers
when the chargers lose, its because rivers played like an mvp and somebody else came up short
if the panthers lose because our defense gives up 34 points, its jake's fault
Quote : | "If they had any other QB behind center they might have won 2 games if they were lucky" |
haha you're such a fucking rivers homer its pathetic
peyton manning regularly wins 12 games a year with no defense at all
whats rivers excuse?

and you're such a Jake homer it's not funny. If the defense gives up <17 points and delhomme throws an INT in OT to make the panthers lose thats on him. If the defense allows the other team to drive 80 yards in less than a minute at the end of the game, that's on the defense. winning is a team event though, and you can only place wins on teams. losing can be traced to an individual sometimes, but winning can seldom be traced to an individual. if you throw 3-5 INTs and less than 3-5 TDs, you probably lost the game for your team. if you didn't throw a TD pass and you're a QB, you probably didn't win the game for your team.
^SD would have easily won 4-5 more games if they could play defense in the final 3 minutes of the game. and indy's defense isn't that bad at all] 4/24/2009 3:38:00 PM |

except rivers...he always wins games singlehandedly
thats why you claim he's a better QB than Brady
thats the most laughable thing in this entire thread

when you're throwing for 3 and 4 TDs and hitting people when they don't even know they're open yet, I'd say you could have won the game for them. but it's still a team effort, and without a decent defense you lose the game (as brady and rivers both know, as one gets the benefit of having one of the best year in year out, and rivers had a shitty one last year)
and for what it's worth philip was doing big without a good running game, a shitty OL, and no defense what so ever. ]4/24/2009 3:43:15 PM |

your rivers slobbing is still absurd
everybody here loves rivers
but only a stupid homer would try to claim he was better than Brady
i'll bet Rivers himself would tell you that Brady is a better QB
but not you
and if you can't even accept that Brady is a better QB than Rivers because of your undying NCSU homerism, why should anyone be able to convince you that Jake is a reliable and proven winner?

first and foremost, his MVP trophies and multiple Super Bowls...single season record for touchdowns, etc
honestly though I'd prefer someone else tell you why Brady is better than Rivers, so you don't think its just me who feels that way] 4/24/2009 3:46:39 PM |

wtf do super bowls have to do with being better? if anything it shows that he's had a lot of great players around him so he's had a lot of help.
a QB can throw for 5 TDs every game and no INTs but if his defense gives up 6 a game he'll lose every game.
and brady had a hell of a WR core around him the year he set that record, even TDs are a team event] 4/24/2009 3:48:02 PM |

Interestingly enough, Phil and Brady have the same passer rating for their careers.
But if you want to know why Brady is better here is a nice breakdown:

he put up okay stats and thanks to a pretty good ground game and the best defense in the league...
i can't even imagine how the baltimore ravens had the best team in the NFL like 7 years ago or whatever and won the super bowl with such a great qb... I mean he must have been great to win a super bowl... wait? wasn't that like trent dilfer or some other equally shitty qb? 4/24/2009 3:57:19 PM |

If you really want to talk about a lack of a running game, just look at the Panthers from 2004 to 2007

of course you're not talking about that, because that destroys your entire argument that rivers has a shitty defense and running game
you give Brady credit for a good running game, even though the Chargers have had the best running game in the NFL most of the time Rivers has been there
you act like Rivers has no defense or run game, despite having a top 5 defense and running game 2 years ago and 3 years ago] 4/24/2009 4:45:08 PM |

that's not the fucking point, 2 and 3 years ago the chargers had good records and rivers played well. last year they had a 8-8 record and we weren't even discussing 2-3 years ago. we were talking about the shitty defense they had LAST YEAR and the shitty running game they had LAST YEAR. 4/24/2009 4:48:08 PM |

BigEgo Not suspended 24374 Posts user info edit post |
with a baller ass defense and steve smith being uncoverable. he didn't do anything amazing, and because of a good OL they still had good ground production. jake didn't exactly set the world on fire in the nfc championship game either.
steve smith was literally wide open all the time, there's a difference between hitting the uncovered and hitting the open man that no one knows is open but phil] 4/24/2009 4:52:12 PM |
