"bowl so hard"
and lol at Ron's style of bowling..."no spin, no hook...otherwise this just becomes figure skating"

Im just now getting around to watching this VIA netflix.
Leslie is a less talented Michael Scott...you can tell they tried to play off that show a LOT.
none the less, its rather funny and I keep watching. 1/27/2012 1:25:12 PM |

it started out in season 1 really trying to play off the office, but it's doing its own thing now and is amazing. 1/27/2012 1:36:57 PM |

When you say just getting around to it, do you mean the first season?
Because the first season is rough, and relies far too much on trying to hit the US Office style.
They open up a lot in season two and really hit stride; it's much different. 1/27/2012 1:37:40 PM |

Yeah im up to the KABOOM episode in season 2 now and it seems to be improving, still a bit in the style of the Office. 1/27/2012 1:40:11 PM |

Well, it's a single camera sitcom with cutaways and asides that break the fourth wall.
By that token, the Office takes a lot from Parker Lewis Can't Lose. 1/27/2012 1:43:48 PM |
Mr. Joshua Swimfanfan 43948 Posts user info edit post |
Parker Lewis had constant narration, not cutaways.
If anything it was a Ferris Bueller rip off. 1/27/2012 2:16:37 PM |

I just meant the fourth wall breaks.
Point being, to say that Parks & Rec is cribbing the Office beyond the first season is like saying the Office is cribbing Malcolm in the Middle. 1/27/2012 2:17:51 PM |

The first few episodes, I watched and was like this Ron Swanson is lame. A few episodes later, it became very apparent Ron Swanson is the fucking man. I actually like his character as much or more than anyone on the office including Dwight. 1/31/2012 10:53:07 PM |

^^^ it's so bad. so is this campaign, actually. and so are both andy and april since they've gotten together.
i realize i'm in the minority, but i'm very sincerely less than pleased w/ how this show has veered since season 2.

Yeah, all the nbc comedies only have about 3 good seasons in them. At least it was somewhat staggered. I got into 30 Rock as the Office was nose diving, got into P&R when 30 Rock was nose diving. Up All Night isn't going to cut it, so now there's no show to fall into when this one becomes more and more of a strain. 2/27/2012 2:12:59 PM |
simonn best gottfriend 28968 Posts user info edit post |
up all night could be funny if christina applegate were funny... but doing a goofy dance once/episode isn't going to cut it.
^^ honestly i've enjoyed this season of the office more than this season of parks and rec.
[Edited on February 27, 2012 at 6:29 PM. Reason : i'd say last week's office ruined that, but the parks and rec was unwatchable bad.] 2/27/2012 6:27:17 PM |

Lots of terrific stuff this episode including Bradley Whitford as the councilman, a Chelsea Peretti sighting, Andy pulling the ship out of the bottle, Perd being Perd and a great Ron Swanson quote: "There's a hot, spinning cone of meat at that greek restaurant next door, I don't know what it is but I'd like to eat the whole thing" 4/20/2012 12:02:32 AM |

Also, I'm glad this campaign arc finally has some burn. Every other part of it has been inconsequential: Leslie shoots herself in the foot somehow, Bobby Newport's campaign manager is genius, Bobby Newport is rich enough to buy the favor of every group in town, etc. For once, they've written a twist into the campaign that actually makes Leslie seem like a contender. I hope they can keep it up. 4/22/2012 1:52:31 AM |
