haha yeah... The toe alignment was out pretty bad the past couple months, but this was after the tire was worn and only had about 15% life left in it. The tires appeared to be dry rotting and had 60k+ miles on them. 5/16/2010 12:29:38 PM |

Having a great time with the rain we've been getting last week. Water got into the vacuum line because the metal enclosure for the brake booster flooded (pine needles in the teeny drain hole). When I cranked the car it sucked in a bunch of water.
Changed the oil, plugs, pulled the booster and then got it running again. Still throwing a code so will figure it out later. Who's got a guestimate of which part it ruined first?
You have to pull off box A
Here is the overhead view of one I found online. Those arrows point at the vac line.

Put 3 quarts of oil in it after oil pressure dropped enough to cut fuel in a hard turn. Why is it that a mechanic's car is always the last one to receive attention?
Put 30 bux worth of gas in it last night.
Other than that, I just drive the damn thing. Who has time to work on their own shit? 6/24/2010 2:52:11 PM |

Oh forgot to post... I replaced the locking mechanism for the glove box in the Porsche. It broke (which perplexes me because it's metal/aluminum), and so I got one from a 968 being parted out. Now I have 3 4 fucking keys for that damn car... (1 for the wheel locks, 1 for the hood pins, 1 for the doors and ignition, and another for the glove box.). *sigh*

I put 1250 miles on the S2000 over the weekend in a trip to NY so now I'm well over 30,000 miles Check engine light came on but I think it was b/c of the fuel cap zxappeal, any interest in replacing my rear diff fluid? Well, I finally had a cooling system failure. The water pump started leaking, next day when the parts (and thermostat) were ordered the radiator sprung a leak. Had to park the 530i and wait for them to come. All in all, it took me 3 days after work to replace. I would've got it done Wednesday night but the Harris Teeter by my house closes at 11 and I didn't feel like driving across town to get distilled water.
new water pump
new radiator
I forgot to say, I fixed the stormwater drainage issue from a few posts above. I replaced all the plugs and then found a leak in a vacuum line near the idle control valve. All fixed and no more codes.

Was flushing the brake fluid in the Integra on Tuesday when I sheared a fluid bleed screw in half trying to loosen it It's on the driver's side front caliper. I haven't decided if I'll buy an extractor kit and then hunt down a new bleed screw or just replace the caliper altogether. It (as well as the one on the other side) are Advance Auto reman'd units that are complete shit anyway. Only 2 years old, full of rust and are definitely wearing unevenly on the pads.
Fuck it, I think I'll just replace the calipers
Regarding the S2000, it's been in the shop for the last 10 days getting bodywork done. New front right fender lining, new front right tire aerodynamic spat, new front right plastic undertray section, repainted front bumper and new clear bra section for the bumper
When I get it back on Monday evening I have 3 days to get the stereo re-installed, car inspected for track duty, new tires installed, brake fluid flush, installation of track brake pads and possibly a suspension alignment.
FML...

Spent 5 hours cleaning the GS-R yesterday afternoon. Claybar by hand, swirl/scratch remover with random orbiter, and Zaino polish applied by hand, along with 3 car washes inbetween yielded the following results:
The paint's gone to shit on the front bumper, hood, roof and rear decklid & spoiler but overall it looks a lot better. Worth 5 hours of time...not so sure

halfway home from work and my #4 injector o-ring decides to let go. My sweet Defi fuel pressure gauge tells me I'm ok to keep going. I use up about 50 miles worth of gas to make the remaining ~12 miles home. I take two ibuprofens first thing to get rid of the gas fume headache
After a short break, I swapped out the o-ring with my last spare (I keep injector o-rings in the car at all times *silly topfeed setup*). Finished in 15 minutes. With this god-awful weather, it looked like someone poured a bucket of water on me.
The o-ring was nicely deformed/squished and sheared apart. 8/13/2010 8:30:49 PM |

Just put the OEM brake pads back on. The Carbotech track pads look pretty torn up after 200 miles around CMP this past weekend. Looks like I've got about 4mm of pad left on the fronts, 10mm on the rears. I'm wondering if that's enough pad for one day at an (easy on the brakes) track?
Also gave the wheels a good cleaning/scrubbing when they were off the car. Wanted to get all that track pads material off the wheels 8/16/2010 9:03:19 PM |

So... One of the Driver's side turn signals wasn't working and I figured I had to replace the bulb...
Step one...
REMOVE BUMPER
Actually it wasn't that bad... just a whole bunch of plastic clips and a dozen screws. Took like 10 minutes of careful removal... And it wasn't even the bulb that was bad... The copper leads in the socket were loose and thus unable to make a good connection with the bulb... it's all fixed now... And to think Lexus wanted to charge me about $200 to fix this issue... 9/19/2010 3:40:57 PM |
