With Panthers Schedule, just looking at standpoint of right now across the league, even with what we lost I think the Panthers could easily get .500, and even more I can see a 10-6 as a very strong possibility.

I don't like the silent offseason we are having, and would have liked to have seen some posturing and moves by Management to solidy a 10 win season, but from the schedule I can't count it out.

but there is no way this team gets back to 8-8"

I think we still can, in fact that would probably be my prediction, keep in mind delhomme literally threw away by himself about three games last year and we still got to 8 wins

^ Exactly my thoughts. Delhomme singlehandedly lost 2-3 games.

I will reserve judgment until training camp starts. At that point, a ton of vets will be getting the proverbial axe and I'm positive the Panthers are planning on filling holes with older, cheap players. That said, it would be nice to at least be involved in discussions with proven players. However, many more players than usual are restricted free agents, and other teams are simply unwilling to give up draft picks and sign long term deals for players they could draft just as well. The Panthers are far from the only team to be conservative (to put it lightly) in free agency and with the unsettled situation between owners and the NFLPA, I would much rather have a team that bides its time and makes sure that it doesn't screw the long term in order to win 10 or 11 games this coming year, which it could quite possibly do without overpaying free agents.

no doubt this is the very definition of a 'rebuilding' year - so you cant have high expectations. But just hoping that player development upside kicks in and we squeak into the playoffs will still be entertaining....

The Carolina Panthers' 2010 schedule, released tonight, features no Sunday or Monday night games and only one prime-time telecast, a Thursday nighter on Dec. 23 at Pittsburgh.

Fourteen of the 16 games have 1 p.m. Sunday starts, a clear sign the NFL isn't expecting much from the team as John Fox heads into his final season amid a bit of a rebuilding process. Watch out for Fox, though. He's particuarly good as a coach when little is expected of him and his team.

Interestingly, two of the final four games are against NFC South rival Atlanta.

There also are two big alumni dates -- Oct. 10 when Julius Peppers and the Bears come to Bank of America Stadium and Nov. 28 when Carolina goes to Cleveland to face Jake Delhomme and the Browns.

Here's the full schedule with comments on each game:

Sunday Sept 12 @ New York Giants 1:00 pm FOX

The Panthers closed out the old Giants Stadium by spanking New York and now open the new facility as Tom Coughlin and Co. seek revenge.

Sunday Sept 19 TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS 1:00 pm FOX

The draft could dramatically change -- er, improve -- the Bucs' defensive line. Just imagine if they pick Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy in Round 1 and USC DE Everson Griffen in Round 2. It could happen, folks!

Sunday Sept 26 CINCINNATI BENGALS 1:00 pm CBS

The NFL's only two head coaches in the final years of their contracts, Carolina's John Fox and Cincy's Marvin Lewis, meet head-to-head.

Sunday Oct 3 @ New Orleans Saints 1:00 pm FOX

The defending Super Bowl champs with now-official superstar Drew Brees look for 2nd win in a row in Big Easy over Carolina.

Sunday Oct 10 CHICAGO BEARS 1:00 pm FOX

Jordan Gross vs. Julius Peppers, but this time it's for real.

Sunday Oct 17 BYE WEEK

Vacation, anyone?

Sunday Oct 24 SAN FRANCISCO 49’ERS 1:00 pm FOX

The 49ers are one of the NFL's up and coming teams. Could be the team to beat next year in the NFC West with Kurt Warner now retired.

Sunday Oct 31 @ St Louis Rams 1:00 pm FOXSunday1:00 pm FOX

Sam Bradford throws against Chris Gamble, Richard Marshall, etc.

Sunday Nov 7 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 1:00 pm FOX

Saints won't be resting their starters this time.

Sunday Nov 14 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1:00 pm FOX

Bucs' 2nd year QB Josh Freeman should be rounding into form by then.

Sunday Nov 21 BALTIMORE RAVENS 1:00*pm CBS

Ravens should be one of the AFC's top teams next year.

Sunday Nov 28 @ Cleveland Browns 1:00*pm FOX

You've gotta hope Jake starts this one.

Sunday Dec 5 @ Seattle Seahawks 4:15*pm FOX

Dwayne Jarrett vs. Pete Carroll.

Sunday Dec 12 ATLANTA FALCONS 1:00*pm FOX

Lots of Atlanta in the final month.

Sunday Dec 19 ARIZONA CARDINALS 1:00*pm FOX

Will Matt Leinart be a success by this time?

Thursday Dec 23 @ Pittsburgh Steelers 8:20 pm NFLN

This date of this game is great for families of Panthers players, coaches, other members of the organization and the media. Christmas weekend will be off!

Sunday Jan 2 @ Atlanta Falcons 1:00*pm FOX

Unless Carolina is in a hunt for the playoffs, this might be the end of the John Fox era. His contract runs out after the season and it looks like he'll be heading elsewhere.

For a top 10 pick. Our whole draft isn't worth a top 10 pick.

I wouldn't want him anyway.

Curious....who thinks Big Ben would fit here at Carolina?

My thoughts outside of the football - This area (in general) was against Vick coming b/c of the Dogs right....Would they be as equally against Big Ben with assault/rape? Just a thought.

well i think it would make a huge difference that vick was found guilty and served jail time. ben was accused but never charged. that said, i'm sure a large contingent of the fan base would still protest if they were to bring him on.

we dont have the ammo to get him

but i would love it if we did. strong running game, big qb that is hard to bring down, play action to Smitty....that's a winning formula

Granted I know we don't have the goods to get him, but I am still on the fence as to whether he would be a good fit in Carolina. He is def hard to bring down, and has strong arm, and our OL has to be ways better than that wet toilet paper line he had in Steeler town the past couple of seasons. But IMO I feel he would be limited to handing off and that would not suit him. He likes to pass and run around.

Granted...he would be loads better than the recent Delhomme, but I don't think his style meshes to well with our scheme.

steelers are traditionally a running team too, at least before last season when they decided to air it out since their line was so bad.

[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 2:40 PM. Reason : on the contrary, i think its a damn near perfect fit.]

I think if he goes anywhere its either San Fran, or some other team by way of San Fran (since they have 2 first-round picks)

I find it hard to believe any team (other than maybe the raiders) is gonna give up a mid-high 1st rounder for him when his value is the lowest its ever been.

Lets say San Fran trades one of its 1st round picks for Ben...lets say the Rams want to move down a little, and think somebody like Ben, who already has won 2 SBs, is going to be a better option than Bradford....I could see them making a move

I can't see how a team would give up a 1st rounder for Ben...he's suspended the first 6 games, 4 with good behavior. That's a lot to give up for a maximum 12 games of production. I could be wrong, those 2 SB rings make it difficult to tell.

^quality sn

^^^^it's awfully hard to trade out of the 1st spot and get value nowadays.

imo they'd be lucky to get a low 1st rounder for him at this point.

He's a top 10 quarterback in a quarterback driven league

For any other position...no

yeah the fact that he has 2 SB rings and a lot of playoff experience definitely helps. PFT says the Rams are out, and that the two most likely places for him are Oakland and Buffalo.

Would you rather have cold poop or hot poop? Its all still poop...

all you people saying you shouldn't trade for ben, come the fuck on

he just signed a huge contract and is locked up. as long as a team is willing to pay him, they can have roethlisberger for the rest of his prime -- sure, he may be out 4 games this year, but think about the next 4 years. IMO, a high first round pick is a small price to pay for a proven winner, even if he's a sexual deviant (which im not convinced on). The Steelers are going to try to trade him I think, especially after the jettisoned holmes for nothing.

Oakland has a history of terrible draft picks, might as well just give up their high first-round pick and get a proven commodity.

right

and Cable seems to want to start Gradkowski....if he can convince Davis they need a new QB and might as well take the plunge, they might just do it. Maybe with an actual QB Darren McFadden might do something...and who knows, maybe DHB won't be a total bust.

just saying since teams already are hesitant to part with 1st round picks, with Ben's situation it seems surprising. i think it would be a great move, since QB's are so tough to pick.

I just can't bring myself to like Jimmy Clausen. Always came off as an arrogant prick everytime I heard him talk. I have no doubt he'll be a good QB, I just don't like the guy.

I'd take McCoy, but I'm worried he might be more of a system guy. A ton of his yards came from short, simple passes where the WR made something happen. Still, he's an easy guy to like, and has great accuracy and decent athleticism.

I'd like to see them take Golden Tate to take some pressure off Steve. That or Terrance Cody to be Holis Thomas 2.0

imo thier lack of total confidence in moore is why they don't take clausen or mccoy...they're gonna want atleast one vet on the roster....I still say a trade for campbell.
