yea, the reason we lost was the dribbling...standing around and sticking our thumbs up our ass on the perimeter in the second half.

Wood is right...dribbling in and kicking out is the key...so is making shots.

What is really funny is Javi and Mays didn't have a turnover....can that be right?

^Wood really isn't adding much to this team without hitting shots. He was 0-3 from 3 tonight. IMHO if he isn't hitting we should play Davis for hustle, defense, and rebounds. I mean Wood was in most of the game and got 1 fucking rebound. 26 minutes 1 rebound, 0 assists and 3 turnovers. Wood is really not helping enough for the time he gets. I know he had an amazing lay-up when he got fouled but that's about all he contributed tonight.

Does anyone know why we aren't running a lot of screens for Wood to shoot? If he's really the next Reddick.. JJ only needed 1/3 of a second of wide open space to knock one down.

I just keep telling myself that Sendek didn't recruit anyone who could set screens for the '06-'07 season and soon Lowe will have his screeners in his system.

I hadn't really slept much the past two or three nights so last night I watched the second half laying down... so I fell asleep like 5 minutes in to the second half.

In doing so, I found the key to happiness watching NC State play. Just go to sleep when we have what seems to be a safe lead. I fell asleep happy and didn't realize until just now that the team did what the team does and lost.

our players just don't move without the ball. They act like they have 10lb weights on their ankles.

Wood does a good job on defense when they aren't calling cheapshit fouls. Be has the height to help see over and break the press and is a good outlet when the pg gets stranded, which seems to happen a lot in the past 3 weeks. We couldn't get the ball to Smith because our guys would always be standing so close that MD wouldn't have to try to do a double team, they'd be guarding Degand or Painter or whoever and they'd end up being within an arms length of the potential entrance pass to the post.


After holding MD to under 30 points in the first half I just knew they'd pull out a 40-50 point second half. State just hasn't been able to put two halves together consistently. Not just on the making/missing shots, but on energy and following a gameplan. Basic fundamentals of keeping your distance and spreading the floor, running screens (the guards never looked to do a pick and roll the whole damn game), and seeing what the defense is giving you and working with it. When was the last time State overloaded one side, either skip-passed or baseline screened to get get to the open guy on the other side? With half of MD playing with blinders on in the first half and part of the second half (not seeing what wasn't directly in front of them and letting Horner and Degand do their thing) State could have pulled something off, even just a couple of plays, and opened things up to then get it inside for Smith to either make his shot or kick it out.


So frustrating, but I will continue to watch. The coaching staff needs a serious shakeup or all-out replacement after next year if this same crap keeps happening.

It was really just one bad call that killed us. Horner went up for a putback, dude literally grabs his jersey and pulls him down, no foul, Horner misses. Maryland gets the ball, dude just dribbles right up the court and nails a three. Huge momentum swing that we never recovered from. Plus, the guy that made the shot had only made two three's all year.

This is also after a ridiculous shot by Vasquez goes down (quintessential NC State shit). The shot-clock is at 1, he's well guarded, so he just flings up a three and it goes in. That's what started the entire comeback.

Again, we're a bad team, we can't EVER make open shots, our coaching is suspect, and we have the worst guards I've ever seen on an ACC team. But it's amazing how unlucky we are too.

I made the post to start that discussion and I made it clear twice that we did not lose because of the fucking refs, but i'm tired of seeing us get jobbed in every game we play. I knew the game was lost when Tracy Smith was clearly hacked (no call) Horner grabs the rebound and goes back up with it and a Maryland player yanks his jersey to make him miss the shot. Say what you will boozie officials refusing to call fouls on the inside can lose you a game when the low post is the only place you can score efficiently.
