I live in Miami, the ABC game listed is the Oklahoma game. Will our game be on ESPN3? What about if I have a friend with Direct TV, can he get the NC regional ABC?

Quote :
"[b]Is there room on N.C. State bandwagon?[b/]

About three weeks ago, I wrote a column about ACC football and the fact that it is not on par with the likes of the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 or Pac-10. I spoke about how Miami would lose to Ohio State (which the Hurricanes did) and how Florida State would lose to Oklahoma (and the Seminoles did).

And it got worse. The week after losing to Boise State, Virginia Tech turned around and lost to FCS opponent James Madison, and Georgia Tech lost to Kansas. Obviously the VT loss was a bad one. I don't know much about Kansas, but judging by the fact that they lost to North Dakota State and Southern Miss., that can't be good for GT.

As a matter of fact, every team in the conference has at least one loss.

Except one.

NC State is off to a 4-0 start, its best since 2002. The Wolfpack had an impressive win over Cincinnati in a nationally televised Thursday night home game, and, in probably their most impressive showing of the season, a 45-28 over GT Saturday.

During his weekly radio show last week, head coach Tom O'Brien used the word discipline when talking about how to defend against the Yellow Jackets run-oriented offense. While the Yellow Jackets did gain 247 yards rushing – which for a more balanced team is a whole lot of yards – it was well below the 345 yards per game that the Jackets came in averaging.

In this game the Pack was splendid defensively. They were disciplined on defense. The Yellow Jackets came in averaging 6.1 yards per rush and the Pack held them to 5.1 yards per rush. Did the Yellow Jackets make some big plays? Yes. But for the most part the Pack shut them down.

The Rambling Wreck did not have a 100-yard rusher. State had 10 tackles for loss. The defensive line played phenomenally and their play helped LB Nate Irving total 16 tackles, 4.5 for loss and two sacks on his way to ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The defense also held Joshua Nesbitt, the first team all-ACC quarterback from a year ago to 211 yards of total offense and he threw for more yards (116) than he rushed for (95) which is not the norm. Even more importantly, they made the preseason Heisman Trophy candidate look average at best.

NC State's offense was equally good. They piled up 527 yards of total offense. The running game was great as Dean Haynes and Mustafa Green combined for 31 carries for 144 yards. That allowed Russell Wilson to really get loose as he completed 28-of-41 passes for 368 yards and 3 TDs.

Wilson is extremely intelligent, makes great decisions and is a great athlete. For him to have missed spring football, to have also played baseball in the Colorado Rockies' system this year and to be excelling the way he is remarkable. He essentially missed 250 days of football from the last game of last season until his first practice this year. He is second in the conference in passing yards (1 yard behind Duke's Sean Renfree) and leads in touchdowns thrown (11). The interception he threw against GT was the first in 379 attempts dating back to last season.

"Our best players have to play well and our best players [Russell] on offense and [Nate] on defense both played extremely well," said O'Brien. "When you have a team that has a good amount of youth still on it, your good players have to play well and lead the way and those two guys certainly did it on Saturday."

At times the game was closer than maybe it should have been particularly in the fourth quarter, but this was as dominating a performance by NC State against a quality opponent that I have seen in a while.

The Pack has its toughest opponents ahead of it. State faces VT this weekend in Raleigh and has Florida State and Clemson still remaining, and of course Carolina. There is plenty of football remaining and I know it's early, but with the way the Pack is playing now and if they can stay healthy, and maintain this play, they have an opportunity to win the Atlantic Division. This was a team that was picked to finish 4th by the media in the division.

As I watched the Pack win on Saturday, my first thought was that they should be in the top 25 on Monday and they are ranked 23rd in the AP poll. It is the first time since 2003 that the Pack is ranked nationally.

So far the Pack has been pre-approved. A big step towards that divisional crown begins this weekend at Carter-Finley Stadium against the Hokies."

Donal Ware is the fucking dunce of WRAL's sports team, I'd be surprised if there isn't more than one error.

I worked at WRAL, knew several of the sports guys, and I've still never heard of this guy until you posted this article. The title was misleading, I thought it would be negative, but I'm happy for the good press.

Yeah, I got mad at the title, too. Even reading the article, I was waiting for a Carolina-fan rant to start, but never did.

Decent read.

seems he doesn't actually work for WRAL but is more a guest columnist/blogger. supposedly has a nationally syndicated radio show

btw, they are reshowing us/GT tonight at 2am. If anyone sees that, watch how Mattes deals with the DE whose rushing, he's pushing him around like its some drill. dude is gonna be a monster before he leaves here. Also watch the wral extended interview with him, he's a badass

for some reason our game is not listed for ESPN3-- i don't know how they decide what gets on ESPN3 and what doesn't, other than the fact that most anything on ESPNU isn't on ESPN3

"Also rising in this week's standings is Terrelle Pryor, who accounted for six total touchdowns against Eastern Michigan on Saturday (four passing, one rushing and one receiving). Pryor likely needs about 30 touchdowns to win the Heisman; that can be hard to do in Jim Tressel's offense. The QB, however, has 14 TDs through four games, so he's on pace. "

You should lose "heisman predictor points" for not scoring at least 6 TDs against EMU. Pryor probably sees a bigger challenge everyday in practice against his scout team.

1. Hmm.. so one pic of a frat boy with his shirt up and a few visors was the worst they could find in the stands? Maybe we aren't half as bad as I thought..

2. Tuffy is awesome; I don't care what anybody says. As cool as it would be to have a caged animal perfectly willing to take it to the next level with somebody's jugular, I think State made a good choice picking an animal that has the appearance of a wolf yet still manages to get along with the fans (including kids) that it represents. Besides, VT's mascot is a turkey. In a dog-eat-bird world, I know which one I'd rather be. Just sayin'.

3. I don't get the shirt thing. The only instance of this shirt I've seen besides references to it on the internet: Rainn Wilson rocked it in an episode of the Office. Moving along.

Decent article by Dinich regarding the players trying to maintain focus. I have confidence in TOB to keep the players grounded, but I know it's not always as easy as we think.

and man, some of these commenters out there are so ignorant it's hard not to get riled up. I need to stop reading.
