Lavin ultimately ended up fizzling this year. I don't expect he will do much more. He may avoid an immediate slide thanks to Gene Keady, but he's not fundamentally a good coach.

That absolutely kills our roster for three years from now. It hurts our 2012-2013 Final Four chances too, I mean we'll still have Painter/Howell/Vandenburg but Uchebo was going to be a dominant force and give us serious depth downlow.

This is a mini disaster to say the least. Gottfried is going to have to lock down a stud big man recruit much sooner now. Fuck NC state jesus one step forward, two steps back every goddam time.

Uchebo is going to be a fucking beast. This is terrible news.

I dont blame Gottfried for it, it's just terrible luck.

Uchebo doesn't hurt next season because he was going to be so raw and we're already deep enough in the frontcourt.

He hurts a little for '12-13 but he hurts a LOT the following two years after we lose all of our big men. It's going to be tough to get anyone to sign for the 2012 class this late when we don't have any playing time available for the recruit's first season. UGH

dont necessarily think its a slap at lowe. any coach worth his salt though is gonna view scholarships like lottery tickets and you just can't give those out because you need bodies. I think this is the difference in having a coach who was an established college coach and those who aren't.

and yes, more ++'s for the myway/highway spiel im certain he means it.

I'll say this, and keep it anonymous.

I know two soccer players at State. . .I suppose a lot of the athletes generally end up having workouts together at some point in time, and both of them say that SEVERAL of the basketball players would flat out tell strength and conditioning coaches that they didn't have to work out on numerous occasions, and that a handful of the basketball players would almost never work out. (There are apparently scheduled workouts, etc, etc, durr). They also both say the basketball team, of all the other athletic programs at State, was by far the laziest and had the shittiest attitudes in the last couple of years.

Scott mentioned it a lot last 2 seasons ago in the post game pressers, and occasionally last season as well. He always kept saying something to the effect of "coach keeps giving us the right things to do, we're just not getting it done". Unfortunately, Scott never seemed to realize that after two years of not being able to get players to listen to him, it was pretty apparent that it falls on the coach. You can't keep around a coach who can't get his kids to take instructions.

After being able to spend some time around Coach Gottfried, I'm really happy with CJL's attitude change. Other players haven't been as out there in terms of media, but I hope they're all as ready as CJ seems to be to get working with him.

i have to be honest, i think CJ has turned a corner, and realized that he won't get where he wants to be unless he puts in the work. and he trusts Gottfried to help get him there. it speaks volumes for both.
