Positive press! I'm looking forward to having Johnson on the team, seems like one of those "glue-guys"

I think Coach Gottfried found him a diamond in the rough. He'll be a big spark off the bench when our starters are getting frustrated. Much rather have him than Harrow. I just wish we had him more than one season. 10/17/2011 11:24:07 AM |

Normally I would be the last person to say that losing Harrow would be addition by subtraction, but the more you look at it, I think it's correct. Harrow could only play one position, and that was point guard. We were better last year when Brown was running the point...plain and simple. At the same time, Harrow was too good to be riding the bench at point and he wouldn't have a good attitude if that was going to happen.
But we still DESPERATELY needed depth at that position when he left. Getting someone like Johnson was huge. Hopefully he can knock down the open jumper and fill in adequately for Brown. It's great that he has the four years of experience. Let's just hope he isn't overwhelmed by the increase in talent that he will face. Practicing against Brown everyday should help with that. 10/17/2011 11:36:24 AM |

johnson has the ability to make an impact on the program for the future just by being here one year....he can influence underclassmen to have better work ethic, who can then pass it on to future teammates...i like this kid 10/17/2011 11:57:30 AM |

I was hyping the shit out of Farnald my freshman year in Lee hall. He was drilling threes with a cast on. Turns out he sucked with the cast off. 10/17/2011 1:23:29 PM |

I don't really seem to recall too much hype about Farnold before he came in. I think the only thing people were remotely excited about was the fact that he had good speed. Any hype he might have received was overshadowed by the arrival of Hickson and Tracy Smith. 10/17/2011 1:27:43 PM |

Gavin Grant was hyping the hell outta Farnold, saying how he was going to be the fastest PG in the league or something.
Go figure, Grant making a prediction that was way off. 10/17/2011 1:49:13 PM |

^^^^ okay cool, i'm not goin crazy then
one of my friends had sent that to me and i was havin a hard time believing that kid was 6'8 from lookin at that video. i think he's still gonna be a solid player for us, but if he had it like that, there'd be way more info on him out there.
6'8 with the smoothness of rivers would be a fuckin gem.

Degand was extremely quick. His problem was that he was always out of control and sucked at passing. His jump shot was very inconsistent as well. He had some physical tools, he just lacked the fundamentals. 10/17/2011 3:08:53 PM |

By the time he was senior, Crawford was actually a very solid point guard. To compare him in any way to Degand is ridiculous. Farnold wouldn't have started at Shaw.10/17/2011 3:43:00 PM |

also, farnold was not more disappointing than marques johnson, the 4* guard out of high school that couldn't make it 5' past half court w/o picking up his dribble. 10/17/2011 3:45:00 PM |

Define talent. Wilkins is the only one your list with next level ability.
Grant maxed out his ability, imo. As did Crawford. Fells could not move laterally or dribble with his head up. He looked the part and had a nice vertical, that's about it. Degand of course was horrible in every way. Costner was a 6-10 spot shooter. Would have been a nice role player on a top tier college team.]10/17/2011 9:21:12 PM |
