this thread went from being about protesters against Wall Streetto people arguing over the right to buy (Apple) products that was a 180and fuck Steve Jobs

^^ Or rather it's more prudent to acknowledge the perils of reckless consumption and to value what one already has. At least that's the basis for true conservatism. My, how things have changed...

Supposedly, a large mob stormed Wall Street and brawled with cops after the Mayor backed down and let them stay in the park as opposed to leaving for cleaning
10/14/2011 10:21:56 AM
random dudes pwning protestors. lolhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnGcUnoNa5Q

^ "Brawled" with cops I think is an overstatement having watched this morning's march on the livestream. What Fox News is reporting as "Violence Breaks Out!" most others are calling scuffles. Even the NY Post's own video doesn't show anything more than that despite using the word melee in their own article.
10/14/2011 10:55:20 AM
lol your movement is constantly flaunting common senselook at you defending "mild violence"everybody with a comfortable retirement, including union workers, can thank Wall Street for their retirement income. Throwing cash into a mattress won't accomplish what a proper stock/bond/cash portfolio can
10/14/2011 10:58:09 AM
i feel like i can post in this thread since it's 10 pages now.
10/14/2011 11:06:23 AM
Pack_Bryan I am not defending any violence. I am simply saying it is being overblown, especially by conservative media.

10/14/2011 12:12:41 PM
I think protests I agree with should be allowed to continue but protests I disagree with should be shut down

You gotta be one regressive fuck to write the shit thepeter's writing
10/14/2011 12:27:31 PM
so what triggered this whole thing, the republican's refusing to tax the rich/something corrupt seems to be going on thing? if so then I would probably support this
10/14/2011 12:29:46 PM
basically yes, control of our political democracy by the wealthy. avoidance of taxes is just one way they continue to build power
10/14/2011 12:30:36 PM
10/14/2011 12:42:09 PM
ThePeter obviously you are incapable of reading what I wrote above. I said I am not defending any violence. I just said the media is overdoing it. Either way I feel the march was a mistake. I think the victory in the park was great PR squandered by what happened after. They should have stayed with that until the Times Square action tomorrow.

I wish we had leaders more like Aaron Feuerstein... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_FeuersteinHe's the 3rd Generation CEO of Malden Mills, a textile plant in Lawrence, Mass. In '95 the factory burnt to the ground. It personally cost him, $25million, his CEO position and filing chapter 11 in 2001 to keep all 3000 employees on payroll with full benefits for 6 months..."I have a responsibility to the worker, both blue-collar and white-collar. I have an equal responsibility to the community. It would have been unconscionable to put 3,000 people on the streets and deliver a deathblow to the cities of Lawrence and Methuen. Maybe on paper our company is worthless to Wall Street, but I can tell you it's worth more." -- Aaron Feuerstein

^Trying to understand your analogy. So every single person is a slave and the companies that make the goods we buy are the slaveowners, even though they pay wage to every employee and our own buying of their goods is optional? Slaves were 'slaves' because they were not paid compensation for their labor and had no rights.[Edited on October 14, 2011 at 2:31 PM. Reason : /]

you've opened my eyes pryderi, we are all slaves, no one has freedom, we've never lived a day in our life totally independent and able to make your own choices and we've been in a cage our entire existence.life is horrible and everything about it sucks and only the top 1% can help me and i need them to give me stuff.it's so clear to me now. thanks.lol

Challenge for anybody with guts. Yell the following phrases and hold up signs amongst protestors:Bring Back Sharia Law!The Soviet Union had no Poverty!Islam is the Light!Wall Street belongs in Zion!Extra bonus points:Use phrases from Mein Kampf, Zweites Buch, or the Turner Diaries, and replace the word "jew" with "rich" or "1st". See how many people you can get to agree with you, film it, and then after you have amassed a crowd reveal that those were the words of Zee Fuhrer himselff.Watch 99% blindly follow screaming. Yay
