Townley isn't the worst. But he really is just wasting his father's money. He was alright in the truck series, which is really just a slight step above ARCA, and they need to truck count in that series. But he failed to impress in the nationwide series, and I can't believe he was going to get a chance in the cup series.

Going to the Bristol night race. Any recommendations on camping? I'm pretty sure all of the ones run by BMS are booked. There are countless others...but any recommendations are appreciated.

No caution with oil all the way around the track. Amazing track officials.

I too would have like to see the last lap end under caution.

[Edited on August 12, 2012 at 3:58 PM. Reason : And all the drivers said they couldn't see the oil, so how do you call a caution???]

its that kind of racing that made the sport popular. Not this call a caution for nothing so the race can end at 55 mph. Nobody really understood what was going on until it was too late anyways.

Even though Gordon spun out, I still enjoyed the race. It was nice to see Brad react the way he did about how the race ended. Most exciting road race I have ever watched.

They had decent racing about a year ago at these tracks, but decided to listen to the "fans" that wanted more pack racing (ie, they wanted to see more wrecks). Why dont they just start a touring demolition derby series and be done with it. How does anyone come away from that thinking "Wow, that was fantastic!"

^^ is correct

running the damn road course at a plate track would be better than crashing 80% of the field. you should earn your finishing spot not have it handed to you because you got lucky and missed the wrecks

Jr's opinion:

Quote :
"Earnhardt Jr. not happy with race package at Talladega: #88-Dale Earnhardt, Jr. discussed the wreck at the end of the Talladega race:
HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE THAT RACE IT WAS JUST CRAZY AT THE END?
"If this is what we did every week I wouldn't be doing it I will just put it to you like that. If this is how we raced every week I would find another job."
WHAT WAS THAT LAST LAP LIKE? NORMALLY YOU GUYS ARE THREE-WIDE BUT THIS TIME YOU WERE FOUR AND FIVE WIDE?
"That is what the package is doing. It's really not racing. I don't know it's a little disappointing how that all went down. That cost a lot of money right there. If this is how we are going to race and that is how we are going to continue to race and nothing is going to change I think NASCAR should build the cars. It would save us a lot of money."
YOU'VE RACED A LOT OF CRAZY TALLADEGA'S WHAT MAKES THIS ONE DIFFERENT? YOU USED TO LOVE RACING HERE:
"You just can't get away from each other that good.
MEDIA: "I know it sucks for you guys but for the fans it's awesome to watch."
DALE EARNHARDT JR.: "Really? It's not safe. Wrecking like that is ridiculous. It's blood-thirsty if that is what people want. It's ridiculous."
WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE?
"The way we are going ain't the right direction. There are plenty of engineers out there I'm just a driver. There are plenty of smart people out there that can figure something out where when one guy gets in trouble we don't have 30 cars tore up at the expense of it. I mean it's awesome in a word and everybody can get on the chip about it and get excited about all that which just happened, but for the longevity of the sport that aint healthy. I don't care what anybody says for the good of the sport I mean it's good for the here and now and it will get people talking today, but for the long run that is not going to help the sport the way that race ended and the way the racing is. It's not going to be productive for years to come. I don't even want to go to Daytona or Talladega next year, but I ain't got much choice.""

the solution was already found Jr. its called the 2 car draft

Junior out for next 2 races due to concussion suffered in the Talladega wreck Sunday.

on a side note, you can probably get tickets for those 2 races pretty cheap now

Jeff Gordon is a piece of shit. If Jeff had never touched a bumper to another driver before and was fucking perfect and Clint was jealous of Jeff's success and was wrecking Jeff like a sexually frustrated 40 year old virgin, then maybe Jeff's actions might have been warranted.

But Jeff isn't perfect, Jeff has hit people before and Jeff has raced people before. He just has a problem when people race him. Jeff's career is on the decline and he's frustrated. He's now just showing how much of an arrogant piece of shit he has always been.

Gordon finally paid Bowyer back. Screw Bowyer, he had it coming. See Martinsville where Bowyer took out the top of the field near end of race.

What happened was that Bowyer tapped Gordon and probably cut down a rear tire... Gordon tried to tap Bowyer back and wound up putting himself in the wall. So he waited on the track after being black flagged and intentionally wrecked Bowyer. Afterwards, the Bowyer crew went after Gordon and his crew. Bowyer got out of his car and went after Gordon in the garage area, but it was just shouting and yelling at that point.

Gordon will get the worst of any NASCAR penalties, but Gordon caused more damage by eliminating mathematically any super slim chance the Bowyer team had at the championship.

I figured it was just Danica wrecking again because she can't drive for shit, but the replay sure does look like Burton hit her on purpose.

You can say Gordon's career is in decline all you want. But until someone else has the most wins for an active driver, most wins in the modern era, and third all time behind David Pearson and Richard Petty, everyone else can shut it. Oh and also he owns half of Jimmie's car, so he is already racking up owner wins. Oh and who is second on the list of wins for an active driver? Jimmie Johnson. So Gordon has the most for an active driver and is an owner for second place. I wouldn't mind being in his spot right now.
