The problem with painter shooting is that he can't shoot >50% and it takes him away from the basket for rebounds. It's an all or nothing shot. We can't afford all or nothing plays.

Painter hits that shot about 50% of the time, so it's a pretty good shot even though it's ugly.

Funny thing about it is it doesn't seem to matter if he's open. He can be guarded and hit it then miss badly 2 minutes later when he's wide ipen.

maybe some of you wtf'ing Painter spend too much time posting in the game thread than watching him play...he is a helluva midrange shooter for his size/position when he squares up...when he came off the screen earlier and tried to act like he was david wesley he wasnt even close but he's very much improved and has definitely extended his range...i'd rather him shoot a 19 footer than Leslie or Howell

remember when Howell hit a couple 3 pointers while left wide open to line up his shot as a freshman, then he shot way too many and missed almost all of them because he was over-confident from his earlier success?

Its more charisma than knowledge. Knowing what Bob Knight knows wouldn't do much. I'm sure most coaches know a lot more than him but not many people match his charisma and thats something that can never be taught or imitated.
