3/9/2013 5:06:17 PM
Yeah there's no way anyone's ever going to find that region. Unless I'm missing something there's no way to search for one.
3/9/2013 5:11:05 PM
well i don't know how to invite anyone to it

NA East 2 is always full for meNA EAST 4 is available, someone should start a TWW region on that server...
3/9/2013 6:00:04 PM
I'm not sure if they turned resource sharing off again but I have zero people moving between cities, which is more important to me than any resource, honestly.
3/9/2013 6:49:31 PM
idk, my trade depots work. but i cant get tourists to save my life. i dont know if its me or what, but ive tried a casino in about 5 spots, no luck
3/9/2013 7:00:27 PM
so when i build the roads, the white guidelines will space them appropriately so i zone along the roads and have no dead spaces. correct?
3/9/2013 7:03:28 PM
^^ See, I started a private region and between 3 cities I was getting a lot of people going back and forth, which is extremely important to fill the gaps in your labor/shopping etc. None of that is happening right now.On a related note, does anyone else have a big problem with not being able to retain low wealth residents? And the ones that do stick around have no places to shop because all my commercial buildings gain value, oversaturate the middle wealth market, and go out of business. It doesn't make any sense. Meanwhile, my industry can't find enough workers even zoned for medium density.^ I used it on my very first city and it ended up zoning everything too small for high density buildings. So now I don't use it, draw my roads out way larger than I would ever think to keep them and fill it in as my city grows. Just avoid 3-way intersections like the plague.Has anyone experimented with clearing out roads to make room for avenues? Seems like a huge pain in the ass.[Edited on March 9, 2013 at 7:13 PM. ah, good advice then
3/9/2013 7:18:55 PM
It says I have 200,000 tourists in this current month, but my casinos still aren't doing shit. There is an insane fluctuation in what happens at my casinos, and I wonder if it is because of the servers. One moment they will be making 20,000/hour which gives me a budget surplus, then suddenly they will be down to 5,000.[Edited on March 9, 2013 at 7:20 PM. Reason : .]

One of my cities was the same way. I have no idea why either. I think time of day might influence it and of course your public transportation. Like if you have a massive traffic jam that hurts it too. But not that much.[Edited on March 9, 2013 at 8:00 PM. Reason : ]

i do get people from terribopolis... so people are moving about.someone needs to research the space port, and build a school of science on the university... i can send a gift to bank roll it, if need be.
3/9/2013 8:22:37 PM
alright, too buggy for me to keep playingI've been trying to buy water from a neighbor forever and it's still not sending me shit
3/9/2013 8:24:08 PM
I don't want a university. It's gonna have to be someone else.^^ Did you say you have a ferry? Maybe I should get one of those and see if that helps.[Edited on March 9, 2013 at 8:32 PM. Reason : ]

Dear libertarians,My city is what happens with no government.

^6 Im experimenting in some areas, trying to find the optimal block size. I figure a block that has 4 sky scrapers on it is about the most reasonable, and they're all about the same size. I want to avoid these extraneous strips of land. The thing that gets me, the lower the wealth the higher the population. Obviously, richer people afford more space, but with the limited city size, there's no cascading tiers of wealth... Like adding all these services makes your city better off, thus smaller. I'm rambling now, but I really have no idea how to control my city and hit 500k, like I've heard of people doing.[Edited on March 9, 2013 at 11:17 PM. Reason : . ]

3/9/2013 11:19:43 PM
Land value is what determines the resident wealth. Happiness is what increases density. Providing services increases the land value of the area immediately surrounding where you lay the services. I'm still experimenting with how to get the best balance between all three. That's the main reason why I'm so miffed about people not moving around the region. It makes finding the balance easier.
3/9/2013 11:21:31 PM
right, but when you start placing services, and they're distributed, tehy automatically raise the vlaue of the land. unless they get all clustered to miigate the land vaue raising.one thing that made me scratch my head was industrial segments compaling about educated workers, when my tech level is 2/3 and education is 4.5/5
3/9/2013 11:34:16 PM
I think what that actually is is just a shortage of workers in general. The game is just overly specific. Services are pretty just like parks when it comes to land value. They provide services to everyone in the city, but only raise the value of the land immediately surrounding them. I figured that out when I was trying to make a city of only low wealth residents.
