I thought it was pretty widely known that Higgins was nothing but a "Yes Man" for Jordan. Him being out means it is pretty much Cho's show. This can't be seen as anything but a good thing.

it won't happen unless the hornets take him at 9. which won't happen/probably shouldn't happen.

he'll be better than mcdermott though.

As expected, McRoberts opted out of his contract. He played WAY above his salary last year, so it only makes since for him for exploring his options.

I'd say resigning him to a decent contract is priority 1 for this team. He just does so many things that makes the Hornets go -- great passer, great creator, good shooter from deep, good ballhandler. Plus he just plays with a nastiness (just ask Lebron's nose).

Probably well known, but I didn't realize they had to change them nor that that was the reason why they did.

Awesome.

I like that they kept things fairly simple. The color scheme stands out enough on its own without mucking it up with stripes and graphics everywhere.

They had to change the jersey concept because the throwbacks are part of the "Hardwood Classics" collection according to the interview with Darren Rovell

I heard there were some league rules that forced the Hornets to change the designs because of something called Hardwood Classics

have any of you heard of this?

nope. also, they would be retarded to just go back to the original design even if they could. the font is pretty dated.

wish they would have stuck with the original teal though. this new shade is too bright or something.

also purple road jerseys are stupid. they were stupid in the 90's, they're stupid now.

[Edited on June 19, 2014 at 5:25 PM. Reason : apparently they went with teal alternates because the NBA allows teal to be worn at home or away]

The NBA said they can wear the old style uniforms or have pinstripes added and call it an alternative "throwback" or whatever term they want to put on it.

New styles means new money...thats the only reason why they did this.

Yeah it's too make money. That's why the NBA has this "rule".

It's why there is an updated Hugo. It's why the hawks tweaked their pac man logo when they brought it back. Same thing with the Golden State uniforms.

Probably the most interesting thing is moving the NBA logo to the back, thus freeing up front for ads. It's happening.

well, the worst NBA executive of all time does own the team/has the final say in all decisions. so that wouldn't surprise me.

Uniforms look great. I fear the team eventually being forced to do the t-shirts, though.

Also, if they do have to do ads eventually, please don't slap a BOA logo on there. Do a company that blends in to that scheme. Just put "Presbyterian Hospital" in simple script on the shorts or something.

^^^nods to the originals while somewhat snubbing the original designer
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/06/17/4985144/charlotte-hornets-evolution-of.html

and that article talks about wanting to keep their design "in house" with the Nike/Jordan connection. But doesn't the NBA have and exclusive deal with Adidas for their uniforms?

also, where is all of this talk about corporate uniform ads coming from? Is this a league wide speculation or just a Charlotte rumor?

They've been talking about it for a while, but the logo used to appear where the crest is on a soccer jersey and it is on the back of the new Hornets jersey, which just fueled speculation. It's going to happen eventually.

Silver is a tool who is mad that LeBron doesn't like the tshirts, so he won't be able to sell more of them. The entire reason of the shirts was to sell a new accessory, like the players are Barbies with a new accessory.

I'm sorry but that's just wrong. Silver could give 2 shits what Lebron, or any player, thinks about sleeved jerseys.

It was done for the fan. Grown ass men don't feel comfortable rocking basketball jerseys, so they don't buy them. It makes it a little easier to look normal in team merchandise if you add sleeves and they sell more. Those type of jerseys are here to stay.

yes, more grown (out of shape) men are going to wear tight-ass, tiny sleeved jerseys.

How many grown men do you see wearing tank tops?

How many grown men do you see wearing sleeved t-shirts?

At least I provided some insight instead of just "Lebron told Silver he didn't like them", which is ridiculous.

Yes, but teams can get whoever they want to design them. as long as the NBA approves the design.

Adidas just makes them.

After the Charlotte uniforms were unveiled yesterday, this tweet came out:

Chris Creamer @sportslogosnet · 16h
It begins... RT "@MikeKing00: Nets remove Ball Logo from back of jerseys, replace it with NBA Logo. New NBA Rule. pic.twitter.com/qqkLl2LLVW"

So, it looks like the NBA logo is moving to the back on all jerseys leaguewide, thereby making room for the long talked about ads. Doubt it happens this year, but they're definitely moving that direction. I'd feel great about ads if they used that revenue to finance stadiums instead of making cities/taxpayers pay for them. But that won't happen. Ever.
