Hope Vertonghen isnt hurt too bad.

Shaky first game. Still desperately need Bale to compete at top.

^ good crowd but worst squad in the league this year....

I don't think it was that bad. Good win on the road. They can certainly compete for 4th place without Bale.

True. I mean the big three (big four no longer exists).

Top six are all but sorted. Even with Arsene's assholeishness they can be top six.

Glad to get 3 even though the squad didn't put their best foot forward today.

The squad depth definitely made the difference imo

btw anybody else bet on soccer? I usually just stick to football, but I might dip my toe in the water this season.

Took Chelsea -1 1H (+115) and Dortmund -1 1H (-125)

Random observation, but I don't really like the graphics on the new Nike ball because you can't get a good feel on how the ball is spinning.

The adidas ball the Bundesliga is using makes it super easy to see.

^ Agreed. Ball is wack this season.

Also so glad Ollie's back:

I get IH is angling so that this club can get some calls down the road, but that's pen 10 times out of 10.

He probably should have waited until there was an actual questionable call that went against them before pulling that card.

He should pick his battles if he wants to be taken seriously. Clear a penalty as there will be all season.

Lots of Willian to Spurs talk. That'd be £90m spent if I'm correct. Or £91.4m more than Arsenal.

I can't wait to see my Arsenal coworker go into full melt down mode tomorrow when I start giving him shit. He takes this shit WAAAAAAY too serious. I'm certain that he'd rather see an Arsenal Champions League title over an NCSU national championship

^ How is that hard to understand?

I would rather see United win the league and champions league than NC State win anything. Obviously if both win that's great but just because I went to NC State doesn't mean I am as passionate about State as United.

I love United, but an NC State title in anything gives me the power to hold over smug UNC shitface fans for at least a year, so....

It'd be different if I knew as many uneducated liverpool/arsenal/etc fans as I do UNC ones, but I'm not in the motherland

[Edited on August 18, 2013 at 10:18 PM. Reason : for the most part the EPL fans I know aren't morons like the UNC crowd]

Arg. Conundrum for me. On one hand it pleases me that Arsenal won't have him but he's a solid player on the England squad and we have World Cup qualifiers coming up!

Only £50,399,999 if that Suarez transfer goes through.

^ Yep. That's how I feel too.

The only thing I'd ever take over a NC State championship is a US world cup.

Commence the panic buys.

Actually like Cabaye and Kondogbia but we will end up with players below them I'm sure..

^^ that is exactly what I came to say. In terms of sports, a US World Cup victory in my lifetime would be the ultimate. NC State basketball followed by NC State football would be my next two. Any professional sports come after that.

I'd say World Cup would either be on equal footing or slightly less than an NC State football/basketball championship.

The one thing about an NC State championship would be bragging rights. While I know a few Europeans, there wouldn't be much gloating to anyone in person.

So the only reason you care about your school/team's success is so you can brag to other people who support a rival team about it?

No Cabaye in 18 for Toon.

He's good but not what Arsenal desperately need. Plenty of quality AMs already though I suppose with Ox out he could be used.

everybody who pays attention to Arsenal knows they need a DM, GK, winger, striker, and CB, yet his senile old ass goes out trying to buy an AM

comes down to what you are more passionate about. While I went to NC State it doesn't mean I am more passionate about it over United. I just feel a better connection to United than State. So when it came down to it I would rather see United win a title than State.

No I am not from the US, I was just naturalized though and have been cheering for the USNMT. Still pick England over the US if we played against each other though. Goes back to the connections part again.
