^ You know United have fallen when a Liverpool fan expects United to show up. Oh my how quickly the times have changed. Its nothing but pessimism for me unfortunately. At least until signs of real progress are shown.

I don't know what me being a Liverpool fan has anything to do with my opinion on the game?

And you fuck off, I don't have any sympathy for United. I just can't see them not showing up for this game. It's all they fucking have left this season.

Nothing. Your post just seemed optimistic towards United that's why I was surprised. I would like to know why you expect United to show up today though? We had something to play for last weekend against Liverpool and we lost. We had something to play for in the first leg at Olympiakos and only that performance is worse than the Liverpool one from last weekend....

What did you have to play for last weekend besides pride?

And I'm not predicting United advancing. I just think they'll get a goal or two and make a game out of it at least.

Unexpectedly good performance. Players showed some heart and Giggsy was fantastic tonight. Pleasantly surprised Moyes. Also spot on aimorris.

^^ I imagine he, like me wishes his team was (still) in the competition but realizes that a United win here probably buys Moyes a bit of extra time and as rival supporters we probably are ok with that.

They aren't going to pull a Chelsea and win the whole thing and the top four spots are still guaranteed now even if they do.

Props to RVP though. Just got United a few more £s in the summer...

I'm fine with United going through just because now there's a chance they could face a team like Bayern, which has the potential for hilarity.

^ Also has the potential to piss all of the United hating bandwagon off. Believe it or not the players out there are still champions and if they can show that same desire as last night, United can have a decent go at it. There isn't much to play for and I think the team (including Moyes) will be giving it their all.

Not saying United wins it but despite how this season has gone United have the players to win, can the match the performance? Remains to be seen. But keep laughing.

Yesterday:

"Debating if I should watch the last champions league match for United or save myself from the misery.... I expect 2 own goals and David Moyes staring at nothing and then wondering how we lost. Throw in 80 crosses for good measure."

Today:

All because Mighty United got a home win against Olympiakos (A TEAM THAT HAS NEVER WON IN ENGLAND).

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to say this.

If you watched both the liverpool match and olympiakos match you would understand the difference in performance was like day and night. I don't care how you put it but overturning a 2-0 deficit after the season United have had and the weekend United had is much harder than what United made it look like yesterday.

I will reiterate, Moyes gets the hate not because United is struggling but because United look lost without a clear plan. If Olympiakos had scored yesterday and United went out on away goals, Moyes wouldn't have been criticized in Old Trafford or the sensible fans abroad.

Also yes Moyes forever. Why? If Moyes sees 5 years on his contract that means United are successful, as simple as that. Be careful what you wish for.

I guess you're implying that I did not watch both matches? I did and I never thought United looked even halfway as comfortable as Liverpool did. Not at 1-0, not at 2-0, and not even at 3-0. Olympiakos had a number of very good opportunities and their finishing just let them down.

Not much happened in that game tactically that was incredibly different than what they've been trying except RVP actually showed up and Giggs played. Also, I think my mom could have saved that free kick.

Quote :
"you would understand the difference in performance was like day and night"

All due to Moyes' tactical acumen and United's performance and nothing to do with the fact that Liverpool is a genuine title challenger in England and Olympiakos are Olympiakos, right? Great win, sure. If that win makes you believe United can win the Champions League and Moyes is turning the ship around, go for it.

Man U are through on luck of the draw and nothing more.

When they get drawn with a Bayern/Barca/Real etc like some of the other English clubs they'll get absolutely pasted.

Can't wait.

Lol RIBS and AIMORRIS hoping beyond everything that United fail and never come back. 20 years of success got you that butthurt?

AIMORRIS I do not say this will turn around United's season. All I have said is United have a lot more ability in their squad to actually compete with the big teams regardless of how this season has gone. When did I say Liverpool aren't title contenders? United have lost to some absolutely terrible teams this year. Does that make Sunderland title contenders? West Brom? No.

United's performances aren't down to individual ability, its down to the team's attitude & terrible tactics largely. If United play as a cohesive unit then it is the only English team capable of putting in a top notch European performance.

Yesterday was the Robin van Persie show and maybe Giggs... saying it was a cohesive team effort that majestically lead to van Persie saving their arses when down two in aggregate is bullocks.

lol. I am the one clouded? Hilarious. All you guys have ever done is constantly bash United. There is a reason that United is the only team to show balls in Europe over the last 5 years. Apart from Chelsea of course. For all of their money city have been worthless and Arsenal have been Arsenal.

As I said carry on with the United hate circlejerk. Hardly surprising given how bitter some of you lot are. Not once did I say United will play Bayern and win 4-0.

All I have said is United have more of an ability as a cohesive squad compared to City or Arsenal to actually have shot at winning against Bayern if United play like yesterday. You are the fools if you can't see it.

really eli? I see you didn't tune in for the match. De Gea, Phil Jones, Rafael, Valencia and especially Wayne Rooney were all a reason for United winning. It wasn't just down to RVP and Giggs.

Man the circlejerk in here is amazing. As I said laugh it up, won't get too many chances in the future.

Constantly bash United? I'm the one that thought they'd actually play well yesterday. You were the one talking about misery and own goals and losing.

Now you're riding high talking about showing balls and getting results and trashing the teams that have been miles better than United all season. Get a grip.

trashing? I have clearly just said I don't expect United to win in the next round but I wouldn't be surprised if United did because the individual ability is there but United haven't played with the cohesion that I saw yesterday all year (except for Arsenal at home). Its hilarious if people think this team isn't all of a sudden good enough (same team that destroyed the EPL last year). Managerial decisions and lack of confidence have been the biggest reasons for United's struggle not individual ability. Some thickheaded people in here.

You guys are the one hoping United get trashed.

Great draw for United. Bayern is a very similar team to Crystal Palace and Olympiakos, which are no match for United's cohesiveness. I like United in a rout here.
